Hi, I I have a A6 2012 3.0T 35k miles and I notice a clicking sound in the engine bay, come from the passager side when I'm in front of the car hood open. Sound like a wheel of fortune turning lol...rapid clicking.Don't know if it's normal or not but I didn't noticed it before so that's why I ask before going to the dealer. Could it be a problem with the alternator ?

Thanks

My guess would be that it's the fuel injectors you are hearing

Does it increase with engine speed?

Didn't test it yet...but in the car I don't hear anything. And is it normal if it's the fuel injectors? And why just on 1 side?

Again, this is just my guess.... It's a common thing people ask/say about GDI cars. The injectors are just noisy. The fuel pressures in a GDI system are very high and lend to the injector closing very loudly, almost diesel like.

Regard to just hearing it on one side, the acoustics in a engine bay can be misleading

Is the car new to you and have you owned a GDI car before? Because if it is and you have not, then makes me think my guess is even more probable
