I've been offered a deal on an MTM piggyback for my 2014 RS7. Does anyone have any info on these, used one, have a friend who has used one, etc.? I have seen on their very German website that they are advertising 675HP, 3.5sec 0-60(which seems slow given MT's stock times that rival/undercut that)...just curious. Probably a good deal either way but I'm intrigued to get more info. Any info is appreciated!

MTM has a very poor presence in the US and virtually no customer support. The other big Audi tuner like this is ABT. Not sure why. Maybe there is an "arrangement" with APR or something on how the global Audi tuning market will be divided up ????

I think it has more to do with the pricing. Lets consider a stage one tune for a 3.0T. Ballpark figure is about $1100 in the US and $750ish for a piggyback. However when I looked up ABT, their piggyback was upwards of €4500 and Oettinger has a ecu flash for about €2950. I don't think they would alter their prices to compete here since that would technically disrupt their European pricing. Oettinger also offers warranty though so that might justify their high prices.

I know it's been really hard to find any info stateside. Obviously APR dominates the market but it voids the warranty, on an RS7 that can be costly. I know that any APR dealer will un and re flash for about 110 but I'm also getting a killer deal on this tune ($1000) when the MSRP is about 5k.

Any ecu flash is going to void the warranty. Plus AoA has really gone bananas on warranty cases due to dieselgate. Any particular reason on leaning towards the mtm tune?

Because it would only cost 1k. And it's a piggyback tune. If I have to take it in for service I can just remove it on the fly.

Ahh then its a no brainer. Go for it. ABT and MTM piggybacks are both tried and tested in the european markets. Get one for me also..lol

So you're familiar with MTM, they're solid tunes for RS7?

Oh yeah I am pretty familiar with ABT, MTM and Oettinger. Talked to them all at length for tunes on my 2016 A6. Didn't go for them based on their prices. The only thing to consider would be their aftersales support. If you need something related to the tuning box, check how easy and quickly they will do it for you.

Definitely jump on it for 1K!

You are wrong about that, ABT is official Audi partner and the warranty will not be affected with their tune. Thats probably why they are asking such crazy prices.

Car dealers in Germany operate under different laws than they do in the US. I'm not a lawyer, but the gist of it is that once a dealer buys a car, they own it 100% and can do whatever they want to it and sell it however they want. In the US, Vag has a say in what dealers can and can't do. They have 0 say in Germany.

They aren't partnered with Audi. They are sold in dealers and the warranty is provided by them (ABT/MTM). That's why they're both so expensive.

For the record, we do the same thing in Germany. It's more expensive when bought that way than what somebody would pay in the US for just a tune.

I haven't touched an MTM box, so I can't say whether it's well built or not. I have explored the ABT boxes and they're very well designed and well made. If I was going to do a tuning box, that would be my choice.

For 1K, you probably can't go too wrong. Even if you don't like it or decide to get a proper flash tune later, it should be sell-able on eBay easily enough.

Just remember that even though the unit is plug and play you do have to get to where the ECU is while making all your connections. I'm sure you can get good at it after a few tries but it is more involving than some of the other boxes out there. Although I wouldn't use any other simple/cheap boxes.

So ABT let's say is okay to go for rs6 c7 as I checked they offer easy tune box to go from 560 hp to 666 hp only with piggyback and 700 hp piggyback + exhaust from ABT
