I am looking to replace my S5 with something with more space and really like the A7/S7 as an option. I recently had an A7 loaner for a few days and I feel like the power and driveability were great for a daily driver, but the suspension was a bit too "floaty" for me coming from the S5. Is there a way to stiffen this up without too many costly mods or am I better off saving the mod money and putting that towards getting an S7? I'm looking to have something that is still sporty but also comfortable since I have the R8 for the days when I want to zip around town.

was the loaner s-line? you get the sport suspension with s-line which may reduce some of the "floatiness"

I couldn't tell if it was or not. It was a 2016 3.0T with a three spoke steering wheel with paddles. It didn't have an sline badge, but Im not sure if the 2016s have that. I see there is a sport suspension option though.

i had an s5 that was lowered with JHM tune and exhaust. it was a great car. i always wanted to supercharge it but didn't do it and ended up getting an s7.
the s7 feels way more powerful than the s5 with the turbos. it is floatier, but not so much more than my s5. i thought the s5 wasn't stiff enough although i never upgraded sway bars etc on it. i am installing new sway bar/end links and alu kruez on this car to counter it. the exhaust note sounds just as good (both had miltek non-res exhaust). i like the bigger room of the s7 and trunk space and part of the reason i bought it was b/c i wanted a powerful car to carry potentially kids in one day. i didn't upgrade to newer s5s b/c i did not like the revised look. i like the c7 look out of all the audis currently besides the r8. i am a fan of wagons and fastbacks so this was the natural car to progress to.

The A7 loaner I had did not have the sport suspension option. That might do the trick without having to go to an S7.

I had an A7 - although a nice car, I'd go with an S6/S7 if at all possible. The suspension on the S's is both firmer and more forgiving at the same time (adjustable air). Although I liked the instant response of the super charger, the 4.0 V8 TT is one of the best engines out there. Coupled with the dual clutch transmission and I think it's worth the $15k premium.

I just replaced my 2013 RS5 with a 2014 S7. It's only been a month but I have to say, this car is great. I can fit both kids (early teens) and the wife comfortably and room to spare in the trunk. The 4.0T is great, but have to admit, on the quiet side. I modified both my S5 and RS5 but I'm holding off for now on the S7 [emoji6]. I think it's great trade, but drive the S first.

I replaced my 2015 S5, 6MT with a 2016 S7 and I am very pleased. The S5 was a very nice little car, but - it was a little car. Best part was the manual tranny. The dual clutch 7 speed on the S7, however, is quite wonderful.

I replaced my V8 S5 with a A7. As much as I would have loved a S7, i decided to stick with the A and really like it. I do have the sport suspension, and will be adding sport springs shortly. I recently took it up to the north Georgia mountains with the Audi club and I was very happy with how it performed.

Go for the S7 and add stiffer sway bars.

Seeing that you have owned s models in the past my guess is that you will be more happy with the s7. I owned an a prestige a6 3.0t for two years before my s6, and although I liked the car a lot, I enjoy the s6 much more. The c7 platform is simply fantstic, but two main things that you touch and feel in a car every day, the seats and the motor, are just so much better in the s model. If it is a price point thing, go with a slightly older S than what you could get an A for. Prior to the face lift you won't know the difference

How would you compare the suspension between your A7 and your old S5?
I was pleased with the A7 suspension on the mountain roads. A little stifness would have been nice, but I did notice the lack of a rear sport differential that I had on the S5. I can't imagine the S7 wouldn't be more fun, just depends on the fun per $. :) I would have had to pay $20K more to get a S7 and I wasn't able to do that, so enjoying the A7 for the fun that it definitely is!

I agree with the comment about the seats. It is one thing, other than the suspension, that I dont like about the A7 compared to the S7. I planned on getting an APR tune for the A7 to give it a nice power increase. I'm not too concerned with the price difference between the A7 and S7 but trying to find the right balance with this purchase. After recently buying an R8, I find that I don't drive my S5 that aggressively anymore, because it doesn't come close to the experience of driving the R8. My wife and I are expecting our first child and I feel like something more comfortable and subdued might be the right way to go here.

Well I did the complete opposite of what I intended to do for an S5 replacement. After much debate about the A7 and S7, I decided to go for a beast of a car and bought an RS7. Matte daytona grey with the exclusive dynamic package. The car is absolutely amazing!

Good choice 👍 I think you will end up selling your R8 soon because of the crazy power the RS7 has compared to the R8.
