I'm beginning a rebuild on my old '96 a4 2.8 12v. I'm in need of two pistons and connecting rods. I can't seem to find these parts anywhere. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks for your help! Any idea how I can find the part number for the piston? I don't see it on 12v.org anywhere. It scares the hell out of me to buy used engines on eBay, rather rebuild the one I have torn apart.

Still need some help!! So I ordered the pistons and rods off ebay as mentioned above, however the pistons are a little smaller and the rods are a little different. Can anyone please help me find the correct part number for my 1996 A4 2.8 12v. Is it possible that the parts I ordered are interchangeable? please help!!

You must have bought 1.8T pistons.

The only piston available currently that I've found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291766534344

Rods should be the same between 2.8's and the 2.7, so you can probably grab some of those rods as well.

Do some research on part interchangeability as I am not positive

why not just car-part.com, buy core engine, keep everything you don't use for spare parts? That 12v motor was in EVERYTHING Audi produced, you should be able to find one for $50.

That's a damn good idea redline380. I was just hoping to find a couple cheap pistons to start my rebuild. Any idea how to find the part number off the piston? I just bought the 078-107-065AH off ebay and they were a little smaller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
