It started on the back of the driver seat, then within a week the base of the driver seat and now a spot on the passenger seat. Small dime sized spot that is initially sticky and once cleaned becomes soft leather. The issue is the transition from top-coated to this spot is apparent. Thought I was going crazy as first I thought that some sort of adhesive had flew in through the windows and I couldn't clean it off.

I took it to a detailing place and they said that the clear top-coat is wearing off and showed that the leather was soft where the top-coat is worn. It has been a very warm summer but the car only has 60k miles on it. Has this happened to anyone before? My dealer has been really good with warranty work even with CPO (B&O, vents, PCV breather valve, TSBs etc), I don't really want to stick them with this issue.

Any pics?

It'd be good to get a better sense of the problem you are facing.

Its either a wear issue or a quality issue. Contact your dealer. They won't be stuck with anything, it will all depend if AoA wants to cover it under warranty.

At 60k, normally I think they'd just call it wear and blame you. CPO doesn't cover things like that. However if this is really your 9th VAG car I think there's a strong chance they warranty it and get you a new seat or seat cover.

Thanks for the advise guys. Here are some pics. The seatback is the worst - I went a bit psycho as it wouldn't come off and I thought the adhesive was actually spreading when I was attempting to clean it. As an aside, the leather without the topcoat feels closer to the silk nappa in my S4. The actual comfort seat leather is quite stiff in comparison.

Do you go to the gym a lot? [:D]
Have a friend that had an issue that looked identical to that.....turned out it was staining from sweat when he'd come from the gym he wouldn't put a towel down or anything and his sweat went right into the leather causing damage due to the salt. Of course, I had to ask him why he wouldn't shower at the gym.....said he preferred taking one when he got home. Regardless, they couldn't fix the damage but had parts of his driver seat recovered under warranty......after a fight.

Haha not particularly, and definitely not more in this car compared to the rest I've had lol! The passenger seat is a total surprise, it's like once a week that my wife sits there :-/
It is a CPO, so can't speak to the previous owner. I know he was a smoker, and he destroyed the steering wheel (which I aleady swapped out).

Is it possible that there was some sort of chemical applied at a car wash at some point?

That's what I was thinking, considering the smoker history of the car. I know the dealership I bought it at (different from the service dealership) did ozone treatment and possibly steam cleaning.

Scares me because I also have comfort seats and I plan on keeping the car for at least 6 - 7 years.
