I was driving home this afternoon and a guy in a Tesla did a Ricer fly by/whip around. I didn't know he was trying to, "race", until he slungshot around me. I was in the left lane at a red light, and I believe the Tesla driver was in the right but behind someone else. I guess when he found a gap between the driver in front of him and me, he stepped on so that he went left, right, and then left again in front of me. I didn't see him until he was already past me. He was definitely fast, but he immediately got into a left turn lane at the next light. I pulled up next to him, rolled down my window and motioned for him to get back out and do it right this time. He was just laughing. Now, my S4 is Stage II, intakes, resonated down pipes, and exhaust, so he might have still taken me. Still, I thought it was a chicken sh*t move. Would have loved to have been in either of the GT-R's I previously owned, to wipe that smile off of his face.

85D and 90D will kill us. There are a lot of videos of those on YouTube running low 11s and high 10s.

Yea there's a guy in my town with a p90d and he ain't afraid to show you the taillights. Silly quick from a dig no chance in hell in s4. I don't think they're that fast though once they're moving; so I've heard not sure.

As I previously mentioned I'm sure he probably would have taken me, but it's still not a race unless both parties are aware that's the case. If he was all that, he could have gotten beside me and honked his horn or pointed his finger forward to indicate his intention. Well, that's okay, if the dude sticks around I'll see him again, and maybe by then it'll be in a FBO GT-R.

I saw a video of a Tesla P90D with Ludicrous mode street racing a newer GT-R. The GT-R won, but not by much.
They are strong for sure, a few of us will be stronger this fall [race]

They sort of fall on their face after the 1/8th mile. I'd love to see how much mph they pick up on the big end. Also, there are a few here pretty close to those times with higher traps. It also looks like that Tesla owner loves to red light...it makes that gap look a lot bigger. No doubt they are quick cars though, that push must be nasty off the line.

I had a P85D come up on me fast on the highway i was crusing at 80 mph... i geared down.. caught him at 110 and walked away from him.. after that i slowed down to 70 and he stayed behind me the rest of the way

Those P90D's are ridiculous fast and ridiculous expensive.
P90D is 2.8 to 60 or 3.1 without L
90D is 4.2 to 60
75D and 60D are 5.2 to 60 which is pretty quick too...
Even if they loose legs above 110mph in town they will school just about most cars on the road. Instant TQ is everything.

I test drove the p90D (underlined means it has ludicrous enabled) with a pretty cool salesman and he let me switch to Luda mode, launch and hit some twisties. That fucking car is mind blowing fast from a dead stop with a full battery! It's really quick at speed then rolling into it also, but for +100k I need something that looks good too...like a lambo.

yeah.. i'm guessing you prob saw the trooper as well while you were coming in.. crazy thing is i heard waze say "Police Reported ahead" but i... just.... couldn't... let... off... lol .. he never came after us though

lol. the performance model S has 700+ hp, they have a top end, and I am guessing that the model s driver you 'walked' on backed off significantly after breaking 110.
the P models are absolutely monsters off the line, off a roll, basically anywhere that does not involve 20 minute+ flat out.

Those cars are fun to watch on YouTube - they smoke almost every car out there and unfortunately right up to about the 1/4 mile mark - BUT, it's fun to watch these races against Hellcats, Z06s, etc because you can see the gap closing extremely fast!

there are 6 production cars in the world (two of them are both the veryon, and veryon ss so maybe it's just 5) that are quicker 0-60

I think your post shows what has been said. Dig, that M4 gets pulled, roll it hangs right in there. The TESLA isn't slow from a roll per say, it's just that it shines the most from a dig.
Both of those cars trap very similarly, so the result is expected.

The last part is what I meant, I must have misunderstood what was typed earlier from others that it becomes slow from a roll because of the delta in the last half of the 1/4mile (which is true, but only because the battery packs back off in power due to heat IIRC)

Understood, it's why I wanted to see how much mph they pick up on the back half in my comment earlier in this post. I can only speak for myself, it seems they are less world beaters from a roll. Where as from a dig they put the hurting on.

For the money, I'd go S7 or RS7 with an APR Tune and have a much nicer car that allows for balls-out runs all day long anytime.

No, not a race per se, because both drivers have to be aware there is a race first of all. I've been on the road long enough to know when someone is trying to race, or in this case, do the left right left fly by, before one has a chance to engage. You're right, the guy was a jerk.

I realize in my current S4 I don't stand a chance against a P90D with or without Ludicrous mode upgade. I did race another Tesla before, which obviously was not a P90D, because we were neck and neck. Still, I will take note of this for future reference. Now, if I do sell the S4 and go back to a GT-R with FBO, then we're talking a much closer engagement.

Exactly He flew past you then his turn came up. I'm not sure what there is to be upset about? His smirk? LOL - I'm sure you've had that same smirk on your face when catching others off guard.
I'd have laughed with the guy cause it's kinda funny and it's great seeing people on the roads having fun in their cars. You should have had a chin wag with the fella!.

The people who scare me are the high school and college kids in subarus and civics who know they can't beat you in a straight up race, so wait to "race" when you aren't aware.
Example: There's a single lane exit from a local highway that winds around about 90 degrees, then splits into two lanes as another highway. One time a guy in a subara was on my ass as we exited the first highway, then started falling back. After there was enough of a gap between us, he started accelerating so that by the time we got to the section that grows from 1 lane to 2, he was going about 30 mph faster than me, and planned to slingshot by. But what he didn't count on was the guy ahead of me going immediately into the new left lane, while I stayed in the right. Subaru wound up going onto the left shoulder to avoid rear ending the guy in the left lane, and nearly lost it into the median.
He got control, moved to the right lane, and slowed to the limit. Didn't look at me when I went by him.
Those are the dopes you need to watch out for.

Wouldnt buy a Tesla myself. Just plain looking and ugly interior for all that money. Plus no sound, no thanks. Fast yes but meh.

oh i've roasted CLA45 straight up before.. this was a CLA250 .. he out drove me.. plain and simple.. he caught a couple gaps and was gone.. little more risky than i chose to be

That's not racing, that's playing cat and mouse. The, "winner", is the person willing to take the biggest chance of killing themselves or others, by darting in and out of traffic.

Quickest, not fastest. But still, pretty darned impressive. I just wish the vehicle made some sort of engine sounds or exhaust note.

Reminds me of the Top Gear where they were testing convertibles for Trump.
At the end of the episode they're sitting in the conference room and Hammond is trying to explain that his Porche is the quickest, but not the fastest. Good stuff.

Meh, I just can't like Tesla's. I don't like the way the look inside or out. I've never even considered one. I wish that performance came with more range and a more attractive package. To me they're quick cars for the pocket protector crowd.
I'm not sure who the vehicle is appealing to. I like the quickness for sure, but the styling to me is kind of bland. But if you want to be the stoplight to stoplight king, this is the vehicle for you. Just don't try to open it up on the highway.
