Anyone have a Vag com in the York PA area that would be willing to help me make some changes? I wouldn't mind driving a little bit either.

btw, on the topic of carista, can you program your windows to go down with key fob clicks?

Yes but you might need the premium version. I cannot remember off the top of my head.

wait a minute, carista is subscription based app? $40/year to use this? are there any other apps similar to carista but with a one time buy for all the functionalities? I mainly just want to lower my windows with the unlock button on my key fob and then show me the codes whenever i get them. Spending $40/year (which is nothing) seems silly for something i would only occasionally need lol.
thanks for the suggestions

Carista just switched their business model about a month ago.
Your best bet is to find someone local with VCDS to do it.
That or if you ask nicely the dealership might do it for you.

Used to be I think $20 for the premium app, no annual fees or anything.
You used to also be able to "Beta test" and get extra functionality for free.
Just bad timing on your part [:(]

You get this worked out? I'm in Lancaster. There are plenty of local-ish meets/C&C I already attend, I usually have my laptop and VCDS with me.

this might be a dumb question but would i be correct in assuming once i program the car to do a certain function, i.e. lower windows with key fob, the programming stays with the car and i dont need the app or the obd2 adapter right? it would be ridiculous if it did. Also, does this form of customization void any warranties?
thanks

I would keep the ODB2 adapter as it is great for basic logging and reading codes with apps like Torque.
You can ditch carista after you do the tweaks if you want.
No warranty issues for simple changes like this.
Note: If you get your car flashed or possibly by an update you may have to redo the tweaks.

I'm in NJ 20 minutes outside of Philly if anyone in the area has Vagcom. I have Carista but the one thing I want is gear display and it doesn't work.

So like an ecu/tcu remap will wipe out the carista customization?

It can. So can certain dealer updates/scans. Every Time I take my car in for audi care service some tweak seems to need to be redone and I'm not sure why as my ECU/TCU is not affected...

C&C Lancaster, C&C Harrisburg, various sonic meets, frequent Cecil dragway Friday nights. My S4 is in bits in my shop right now but I'll try to let you know the next event I'll be going to and see if we can work those tweaks out for you.

I'm near Shrewsbury, PA - about 20 minutes to York. Shoot me a PM and we can arrange.
