I am getting ready to order a couple of oil filters to have around for when I do my next oil changes. I have already done two. The Mann oil filter I used was an...
HU 722 z
When I checked on a Mann site, the suggested Mann filter is now an...
HU 7028 z
So I checked on Amazon.com and their internal check for the HU 722 z claims that this filter does not fit my car. This claim was not the case last year when I ordered two from Amazon. So my question is, which one is correct? I'm going to assume that the HU 7029 z is now the one to use.
UPDATE:
A call to someone at Application Associates (http://www.mannfiltersrus.com) confirmed that the HU 722 z has been discontinued and replaced by the HU 7029 z. There is no harm in using the HU 722 z while you can still get it from remaining stock, per the person with whom I spoke.

Yes, I saw this. The HU 722 z is what I have used for the two oil changes my S4 has had. Funny that when I ordered two of them from Amazon last October, the Not Fit message did not show up. Yet Amazon shows nothing for the HU 7029 z.

thanks for the update. I was about to say the filter was the 722 for sure, hell I bought a pack of 10 some time ago lol.
Did the rep say why they discontinued the 722 for the 7029?

Few notes. Looks like the current factory part number for our filter is 06E 115 562 C. Did MANN indicate the reason for the change in part number?

No he didn't and I asked. I don't think he knew the answer to that question.

Here's the filter with part number that I bought at the Audi dealer yesterday...when I compared it to the filter I got in my oil change kit from Ecs or Europa, the only noteable difference was a plastic insert that was inside of the filter on the new oem one. Probably helps keeping it from collapsing.
Edit: By looking at the two pics of the old/new filter it seems like that plastic insert is the reason for the change in part number. If you look close at the inside of both filters, you will see the black insert inside of the new one.
