Does anyone have experience with both?
I currently have an B8 S4 with a Touring exhaust, and a friend of mine has a B8 S4 with a track exhaust. Both of us have a manual transmission with OEM downpipes. I like the sound of the track exhaust better, but I can't stand the amount of drone it produces with this setup on a day to day basis. Meanwhile, my touring exhaust with the same setup drones far less and is very acceptable for day to day driving.
How is the C7 touring vs track on drone? Is it just as big of a difference as on the B8 platform? I'd like to go with the track version as it sounds better outside the car, but I don't want the drone if it's as bad as the B8 platform. The official AWE videos show that the track drones a bit more, but it's very hard to tell if it's an acceptable level. I've viewed every AWE video I can find on Youtube and I still can't make up my mind... [:|]

The video that AWE posted for the S6 & S7 does a good job of showing the drone in the track edition. I would say if you don't want drone at cruising speeds, go Touring. That is what I decided on due to needing to take clients in the car and do conference calls, etc.

Agreed. Listen to awe's videos with a proper sound system, with mids and bass. It gives a very accurate representation of the sound. The drone is very prevalent with the track edition. I opted for the touring edition for reasons stated above including wifey comfort.

I emailed AWE a few weeks ago with that exact question. Basically, if you don't want drone, do NOT get the track edition. He couldn't stress the Touring enough for my S6. I was very happy with the Touring on my S5 V8, so it's a no brainer to go the same on the V8T. I'm hoping to get it installed by the end of the year.

I can attest to this one... track is going to drone. No question. The touring sounds great regardless. And, as a heads up I have them in stock!

Looks like I'll be going with the touring. Thanks for all the replies.

I've got the track version converted from the touring - personally love the way the track version sounds and the droning dosent bother me at all

Any ideas how the drone is on the track version compared to an Eisenmann Race on a F10 M5. I love the ERace on my M5 so wondering if the track is more of a match to that. This will be wife's car but I will drive it a lot so I want something that suits me well. Plus she likes the ERace on my car.
For a C7 S6, does anyone know where I can buy the resonated 180 technology part that converts a track edition to a touring edition? Just curious as to how much the part costs if I were to go with track and the later decide I wanted the touring to decrease the drone at cruising speeds. TIA.

Awesome, thanks bonafyd! By the way, I’ve definitely seen that, but couldn’t find it when I was searching earlier. Hah.

I have the touring right now, and I am considering getting the track pipes as well. The changeover doesn't look that difficult or time consuming to swap back and forth if I want a different sound.

The muffler swap is pretty simple, with one caveat. Once you cinch those clamps down, it can be a real pain in the ass to separate the pipes later.
I was doing it to awe pipes that were removed from the car and required a lot of hammering. If still on the car, it is probably difficult to get good leverage so you may want to think about a second pair of hands to help, penetrating oil, and or heat.
On a separate note — exhaust note is a personal preference, but if you have downpipes I think the track version would be crazy loud. If you want to be dialed up to 8+ all the time it is a good solution, but if you want the option to range from 4/5 - 10 based on comfort vs dynamic and WOT or not, touring is a good choice. For me, it is a nice balance without being obnoxious all the time.

The lack of APR downpipes is my only holdout. I am waiting until I get them before I make a move. My CPO is up next month so I want to get it done soon, but the guys at Achtuning keep saying that the sound is too much even with the touring. Apparently they have taken off a couple sets of downpipes because of the loudness.

I have the touring so can't comment on the track. With this exhaust I enjoy the car like the 1st day I drove it home. Before I start the car in the morning, I check the baby cam from my phone and does not wake him up! I don't track of my MPG but I must have a little fuel savings because the stock exhaust is SO flipping heavy compared to the touring. Finally, an install tip, when I installed the exhaust it would sit just a hair above the cross brace and I could hear it tapping in cabin. The rubber exhaust hanger adjacent to the cross brace was stretched from the heavy stock exhaust. I wrapped a wire around the rubber hanger to take up some slack. I would have used an hose clamp but didn't have any in the garage. Hope this helps.
