My current wheels, the OEM peelers, have seen better days. I don't have any damage to them but the paint is chipping in the usual places - around the lug nut holes, around the valve stem, etc. My peelers were resprayed about 4 years ago so the finish has held quite well, especially with the 40 or so trips up to Park City the last two winters.

I have an opportunity to buy a wheel that i have wanted for years, the b7 rs4 wheel. Local guy is asking $750 for the set. He had them posted for $800 originally. These are 19x8.5 Et 43 and came off of an A4 S-Line Avant, the same wheel size as the OEM peelers. They are OEM Audi wheels, not a knock off.

What would you feel comfortable paying for these? I was thinking of offering $600 cash or 150/wheel, but i don't want to insult the guy. My car is Deep Sea Blue color. Was thinking about having them powder coated a gunmetal gray.

Here's the wheel, the only one with damage on it. Looks very minor.

I love these wheels as well, and think that you're in a good ballpark for what they're worth. For a little perspective, someone local to my area has a set with tires on CL currently, but is asking for $1,300; they're from a B7 S4 and have some decent rubber on them, but have been listed and re-listed a couple of times at the same price. I would value the local set with tires around $900 - $1,000, and think that they're still available due to the higher price. For an OEM set without tires, I feel that $600-750 is reasonable, depending on condition.

Agree w/ both comments about the price being between $600-$750 depending on the condition. BTW, I hit Park City every year around mid Jan. Love that place!

+1 to the above. $600 - $800 for those wheels depending on condition. Looking at the one pic I'd say $700 is fair if there are no curbing or scratching and they have not had any repair work done etc. $800 if they have barely been used and are 100% mint.

I just noticed in the pic there looks to be curbing on that one wheel - and several scratches. I personally wouldn't pay more than $650 if it's just the one wheel. I can get curbed wheels fixed for $50 per wheel but I know it can cost more. From the scratches and condition of this one wheel I'd guess the rest will have scratches also. If that's the case I don't think I'd spend more than $600.

I'd rock those as winter boots for sure though.

Meeting him tomorrow morning at 10am to see them in person and offer. I'll start with $600 and see how that goes.
He is an Audi guy and likely a member here. he has a 2010 A4 Avant S-line in ibis white.

Hopefully i can get this for a good price. Thanks for comments everyone.

It's a great town and glad you enjoy Utah!

I'm thinking these will be the summer shoes, Peelers will be the winter shoes. Peelers are already beat from daily driving the car.
Assuming i get these, i now need to source a set of PSS tires.

I use the RS4 style wheels for my summer set. I've always been a fan of them.

Unless he is reading this thread, lol!

Seriously seems like $ 150 per wheel is fair.

If these are true B7 wheels, aren't those a different center bore? I could be mistaken, but I thought they were.

Yes. but they are not true b7 wheels. b7 wheels are 19x9 et 29, these are 19x8.5 et 43. oem rs4 wheel is 57.7 bore, these are 66.6 which is the b8 hub fit.
these came off a b8 a4 s-line avant wagon. they only offered them in 2010 on s-line avant's.

Depending on their condition, I wouldn't be afraid to definitely low ball him a little bit.

Gotcha. Offer him $500. That's $125 a wheel and seems reasonable, since they are used after all. You do have to pay to have tires unmounted and remounted, so just take that into consideration and tell him that as well.

What a low baller.

They're used that's why they're $750 instead of $2000, ever seen the price of OEM wheels? Quality replicas are even about $300/each. And having to mount tires has no impact on the price of a set of wheels, you have to do that with whatever wheels you buy. Now if they're banged up then you can argue you need to get them refinished, but if they're 95% fine and you just personally want them a different color...again, no impact on the price.

PS. no these aren't my rims for sale.

Lol. Hartmann's run about $275-300/wheel for this specific wheel, and its still not OEM.

I don't want to turn him off. I get what your saying with used an all, but they are OEM wheels. I don't like aftermarket wheels unless its an HRE or other top quality wheel.

The thread is getting good now, [az]

Honestly, unless you are taking advantage of someone with diminished mental capacity, a sale can only happen when both parties agree on a price suitable to each other. If it's $5000 or $ 50, so be it.

I had those exact wheels on my 2010 S4. Swapped them with a guy who had a B8 A4 S line. Fit fine. Looked great. IF the wheels are from a B7, they will not fit because of the different centerbore.

Well, i bought them. They were in much better shape than i thought they would be. The first picture is the only damage on any of the wheels, and its a surface scuff. all of the metal is there. No bends, no cracks, no problems.

The dude was a really good guy, drove a 2010 B8 A4 Avant that has a rs4/facelift conversion done to the front end. Looked really clean on an avant.

Paid 680 for the 4, 170 each. Thats with the centercaps. I'm happy with the purchase.

Great deal. I am envious! Will your repair the minor damage before you mount them? Word of advice. PLEASE, when you get tires mounted to the rims, use a facility that has the Hunter GSP system with toroad fore balancing or similar. i am really tired reading about owners that took their cars to just any shop to get tires put on, only to have issues with rim damage or tire balance. Good luck!

I'll likely have it repaired or i'm thinking of powdercoating/refinishing the wheels a gun metal shade.

i have two options for mount/balance, i'll likely be grabbing tires from tirerack.

mercedes dealership:

Mounting Equipment: Hunter TC 3700
Balancing Equipment: Hunter GSP 9700 RoadForce balancer

private tire shop:

Mounting Equipment: Coats 7060EX touchless
Balancing Equipment: Hunter GSP9700 RoadForce balancer

which would you go with?

Go onto Hunter.com . You can put in your zip code and they will give you a list of all shops with the Hunter GSP equipment. In fact Tire Rack will have recommended installers. Tires can be shipped directly to the shop. It will be a lot less expensive than a MB dealer. Your private tire shop might be good. BUT I would talk to them first and tell them you expect the wheels to be undamaged when mounted. Take pictures of wheels before mounting.

Didn't see a link on their site for local shop lookup. They had local reps, but not a list of shops who have Hunter equipment in use.
