Hi
After a lot of testing I've come to the conclusion that pretty much all digital speed limit signs are not recognized by my Audi.
Normal speed limit signs are spotted just fine it seems and collaborates fine with what the satnav believes is the speed limit.
Anyone seen this before? Any way to resolve it?
From Denmark btw, so the speed limit signs are red circles on white background :)
Thnx, Mickey

What do you mean by "Digital speed limit signs" (picture?)
The Audi MMI uses the forward looking camera by the mirror to recognise normal format speed signs, along with navigation info to display the current speed limit. We have similar in the UK - circular, white background with black digits, and a red circle edge.
Where there is a variable speed limit (i.e. Roadworks) here in the UK there are temporary speed limit signs, in the normal format. This overrides any speed limit memorised within the navigation maps.
We only have digital speed limit signs on overhead gantries on our motorways. These signs are not recognised, and register as the expected normal speed limit. I suspect the reason for this is that the camera is forward looking, and not upwards looking.
John.

I actually found the FOV of the camera is pretty big as we have some speed signs 'hidden' between trees (viva Belgium). Depending on your driving speed and the amount of view of leaves it picks it up often here. Offcourse there are some that don't get picked up but overall pretty happy about that option.
Personally haven't came across belgian digital speedsigns but as mentioned don't think the software is capable to reconnaise these (something i can understand and accept).
