Ebay RS6 Replica wheels

Has anyone had experience with the Ebay replica RS6 style wheels? They look nice and the price is great but I'm concerned about the strength of the wheel and quality of the finish.

I'd rather spend $800 on a set of wheels than $250 on spacers for my split spoke 20s :)

what spacers cost 250? HR are about 125. The 800 dollar rims will last you through your 1st pot hole and will bend. I made the mistake of getting these in 19" and the rear one bent within a month when i hit small whole. Plus no matter how many times we tried to balance them, at speed above 50 they would vibrate. They did look great when i got them. The RS6 Avant just came out and these just hit the ebay scene about two years back. They were def lookers. Just not durable and down right scary at speed.

These look like the set I had on my car previously. The way they are cast a 255 tire did not allow enough rim protection and the wheel face sat proud of the tire sidewall. In short order they were curb rashed to hell by the wife. The strength was ok at best. One was bent badly by a a huge pothole (again, the wife, lol) but I think they could handle smaller potholes.

You get what you pay for. I might consider these more of a winter wheel or a year-round wheel if your roads are pristine (where's that?). I would definitely run a 265 tire if you get them.

Keep any eye out for genuine ones that come up. I was finding them for anything from $1200-$1800 depending on condition. I think I had to search for S7 genuine wheels though to find them ones though. Putting in RS6 wheels hardly found any.

I have a set of the eBay reps on my S6 as winter wheels. It didn't get out much last winter, so the wheels are still perfect.

I didn't weigh them, but expect that they would be heavier and not as strong as the stockers. But for the winter use my car sees, they have been perfect so far.

No balancing problems- they balanced up fine, and higher speeds don't reveal any vibrations.

I wonder what the difference is in these and the Hartmann Replicas? Or are they they same manufacturer? I spoke with a rep at Hartmann today (want these same wheels as a second set to my stock 20's) and he was not only super nice, but also really well informed on all the Audi rims. I was impressed as I usually know more than the sales reps on offset, and variance in styles, lol. m The actual stock RS6 wheels in this style are 21 x 9.5. Not 20x9. But 20x9 is fine with me. One of the listings is for 20x8.5. This style wheel is 20x8.5 on the S6 BO package, but on the A7/S7 its 20x9???? Go figure Audi!!

Of course, with 20x9, then I am forced to go with a 265/35 rendering my current set up obsolete.

Your replica wheels are more likely lighter than your stock wheels. Replicas wheels are designed to look good but are produced as low cost as possible to maximize profit. Usually through gravity cast molds. They are designed for mass fitment and usually not tested for specific cars. Some don't even test at all....

OEM wheels are designed with safety and durability on the checklist. Your stock wheels are also tested specifically on your model. They're usually "heavier" when compared to performance aftermarket wheels. You can push your oem wheels as far as your car can handle and it shouldn't fail.

Replica wheels are usually lighter so you should notice a performance increase in accelleration, but aren't necessarily durable enough to withstand impact or stress.

If you're just a normal driver, can handle pothole/curbs, and occasionally like to accelerate in a straight line then replica wheels are absolutely fine for most.

Of course, there are wheel manufacturers that combine light weight, durability, safety, performance, etc. These wheels are usually much more expensive comparatively. Then again, you're also paying them for the time they put into R&D, safety/durability testing, etc that replica company don't usually have as an overhead.

Replica wheels are perfectly fine if you're just a normal driver that can avoid potholes/curbs and occasionally like to accelerate fast in a straight line. If you're an aspiring weekend track warrior then I wouldn't go this route.

I have been very happy with the Hartmann wheels on my old C6 and my current C7. The people at Achtuning are great to deal with.

I had Hartmann RS6 reps on my C5 4.2. They were garbage. That was 8-9 years ago so maybe they've improved since then, but at the time they were a nightmare.

I believe you had the same ones i had..they are replicas and specifically branded as "Stuttgart". I also initially had 255's on them on my A6 and had zero lip protection as you said, giving the tires a slightly stretched look. I now have 265's on them on the A7 and they are nicely protected. They've held up very well given the northeast roads and look great. But other replica makes may yield different results.
