Anyone else notice Google Earth images look better in navigation? I had to go back in and set navigation to Google Earth because it automatically went back to standard view today.

I was wondering wtf happened. This happened to me there other day and I had to go back turn gmaps back as default

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know how to retrofit a SIM card slot? I know people upgrade the B8's to a google earth B8.5 system, but what about a Canadian B8.5 without a sim slot?

I'll look at it today. I don't use the in-dash navi much as I like Waze better. However I do recall my MMI everything rebooting on it's own the other day as I backed out of the garage. Perhaps it was because of an update. Not sure.

Ignorant question. Do you have to do something special to get this update? I don't use Google Maps on the NAV, but maybe I should start...

Thanks Darkstar, great find. I did a bunch of searching before asking but it was all full retrofit kits for like $2k and meant for B8's.
I've actually met this guy, I know he did the full retrofit on his B8 wagon but had no idea he did a workaround on the facelift Q5 as well. Will reach out to him but he doesn't allow PMs on this forum.

No. Should see updated imagery on anything that uses Google Earth or Google Maps, to include your phone.

You do need to update the apps the to use it though. Updated my phone and Ipad yesterday.
