Hey everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this post but it is about B8 S4's lol
I am looking into getting a "new car" and I am stuck between looking into getting a B7 RS4, which is a dream car and an amazing piece of engineering. And I know there are a few really nice ones in the classifieds. Or do you guys think it would be better to get a new or CPO S4 from Audi where there is some sort of warranty around parts and shit? I know that there have been several posts about being able to get the V6 in the S4 up to similar output specs as the RS4 really easily. And I'm looking at getting a manual for the S4. What do you guys think?

Well its going to be hard to find a RS4 that you really want. But if you want one time is no object. Yes you can get a B8 S4 up to RS4 power but that V8 sound though. You get a lot better tech in the B8 than the B7. The B8 is a bigger car. I like the cue's of the B8.5 myself over all of them. Makes you fee your in a sports sedan more so than previous ones. But That's something you can change if you wanted to. I guess the biggest thing is you need to drive both and see what you prefer more. Just Drive a B7 S4 and the RS4 will be that much better. If you cant find a RS4 to drive. The biggest thing on the RS4 is to make sure it just had a carbon cleaning recently.

The B8 s4 is the better car. Better chassis. With a tune, the B8 S4 is as fast. Better gas mileage/ Newer. Could have a warranty. No carbon build up issues. More plentiful. IMHO, Audi screwed the B7 RS4 owners. They paid big bucks for the RS name and expected RS performance. Shortly after releasing the RS4, Audi brings out the B8 S4 which has near RS4 performance, stock, at a base price of $49k. Although most well equipped car went out the door between $55k and $60k. STILL a LOT cheaper than the RS4.

The RS 4 is a more exciting and special car.

The S4 is a "better" car.

It's a hard choice.

OP, I went from a B7 RS4 (owned it for 110k miles) to B8.5 S4. PM me if you want some input on your decision. [up]

The biggest thing on the RS4 is to make sure it just had a carbon cleaning recently.

Sorry to myth bust, but that is not "the biggest thing". Carbon cleaning will run $600 and you do it maybe every two years, depending on how much you drive and how much you value that extra few percent of top end power. I didn't clean my car the first time until 75k miles and can't say it made a night and day difference.
