Anyone had this sensor go bad? I'm getting weird temp needle fluctuations as it won't ever read full operating temp. thermostat was replaced 5 months ago and the won't overheat. Anyway to verify the sensor?
Thanks

Haven't seen many people talking about sensor issues. But anything is possible. The biggest thing you can do if you have or know someone with vag com. Get the engine to cold soak and hook up and monitor the coolant temp and ambient/ intake air temp without the engine running. They should be pretty close to eachother with in 5 degrees or less. Best to let it sit over night. Or if you have a laser temp gun get the car to where the problem happens monitor the temp to know what the temp is exactly and laser around the t-stat as best you can and it should be within 10 degrees. If its not and coolant is colder than that then you have a temp sensor issue.

After I posted I quickly took it out, cleaned the terminals, gave it a quick scuff and all is good now, so its definitely the issue. For 30 bucs Ill just replace it and keep an eye on it. I'm sure in vagcom I can also see the voltage fluctuations/spikes that would pin point it being faulty.

I'm having the same issues but trying to find where the CTS is located. Can't find info on it any clue or incite on where it's located?
