Hi guys, I need your input on this. Tried search button but didn't see anything similar to my issue.
Happened today during the drive to work, got off the freeway and stopped at the first red light, heard a constant ticking sound with windows up. Did not happen ever before even on cold starts. Started driving again and ticking noise gone, after I found a spot to park and I tried both idling in "P" or drive mode with brakes, ticking noise did not come back. [confused]
Anyone experienced this before? b8.5 S-tronic 53k miles no tune.
Thanks in advance!

If it's gone don't worry about it. Could have been something outside the car... who knows.
Sorry to hear you're working on a holiday weekend not to mention a Saturday [down]
If the noise comes back take a cell phone video and post.

Thanks. It was coming from the car I am certain about that but from a google search on other platforms it could be thin oil, ac, timing belt, etc. So I am gonna wait for it to happen again and i can take a video.
It doesn't suck as much working on a saturday during long weekend, lol. I actually prefer that and get my day off during regular week days so that I can skip all the traffic jams and waiting on the line if I need to get somewhere and do some shopping

Maybe it's a bomb. Is there anyone that doesn't like you?

Was it coming from the rear or front? Right or left? I hear a ticking occasionally from the relays in the trunk on the right side.

Of course it's a ticking time bomb...IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY! Giggity Giggity...Giggity Goo
Shot in the dark here. It may be a heat shield. After the air stopped flowing over it, it started to heat up

I think I know exactly what ticking noise you're talking about. Let me ask you, when you hear the ticking noise, you lower the widows and the noise is gone, right?
