Quick question! Will I lose the DSG blip on upshift if I cut my resonator and replace it with an xpipe or go for any other exhaust?

Nope because you put a resonated X pipe in there.

Quick question! Will I lose the DSG blip on upshift if I cut my resonator and replace it with an xpipe or go for any other exhaust? my understanding is the blip or fart as we call it, is based on throttle being closed. Electronically to make shifts smoother , it has nothing to do with exhaust system.

Oh I see, its just that hearing a lot of S4 videos with after market exhaust, they tend to lose that sound.

Here check out my quick review of the awe track exhaust.. the system has an x pipe and the fart noise is still there! In fact it only gets louder

Not really, most of the dsg videos i saw still have the fart. But there are a lot of 6mt videos out there which have no fart, of course.
I do found many cars with a dsg tune have lost the fart though.

Most people use a resonated X pipe for better quality of sound. That was the setup I was going to do but a deal fell into my lap for the AWE full system. And my fart is still there and a little louder.
I think it also has to do with how fast the trans shifts as well.

Nice thanks for the info!

The DSG "fart" is due to the car cutting fuel during a shift, but the throttle body stays open. So the car is still producing boost during a shift.. but there isn't any fuel. So the "fart" is because a big slug of just air goes into the cylinders during a shift. The electronic throttle body cannot close and open as fast as the DSG shifts, so it remains open and the car just cuts fuel.

The fart is because of excess fuel not lack of.

That explains why I only hear fart on dsg/dct cars. No wonder it's gone on C7 a6s. Thanks!
I guess thats the reason why some of the cars with tcu flash lose the fart - because they shift faster.
