Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my brakes to a BBK and am looking at the following ECS kits with either Porsche or RS5 calipers.

Porsche:

RS5:
https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S4-Quattro-3.0T/Braking/Performance/Front/Stage_3/ES2777620/

Do you guys have experience with either of these kits? Is it worth the $450 difference to go from the 6-piston Porsche calipers to the 8-piston RS5 calipers?

Thanks!

whats your planned use for them? 19z's run a wider rotor than the rs5's according to ecs which means more room for airflow. 19z's are cheaper and it looks like pads are cheaper for the 19z's also. my guess is rotor cost would be similar. IMO 19z's have a more aesthetically pleasing look also. only downside I see is the rs5's are 8 piston calipers but i would say the difference wouldn't be noticeable between the two.

I currently have a set of Stoptech pads/rotors they did well in daily driving, but I killed them off on Friday during a track day. Looking to upgrade to something that runs cooler, has better stopping power and looks good. I run 1 maybe 2 track days per year, and daily driving use.

I've had RS5 brakes on the lighter B8 A4 and they worked really well but no question if I had the choice I'd do the Porsche setup. As already stated you get a wider rotor but just as important you dont have to deal with the expensive 4 pad per caliper setup of the RS5. I ran the RS5 setup because I got it used for $1000 or so and it did the job.

Should consider this kit too....

The Porsche setup the only advantage it will give you is more fade resistance over the Rs set up due to the wider rotors. The Rs setup will have more even pad pressure distribution due to more pistons and more possible surface area than the porsche but you have to measure. But without measure it will give you better distribution due to more is better. You also have to look at pad surface area also between the two calipers. The Rs could have more pad surface area which would be better for braking.

A lot have said that the cost of pads for the porsche set up are cheaper.

I would look at overall cost of the setups between the two. I wouldn't worry to much about the wider rotor that the porsche carries unless your going to be tracking it a lot because you will never notice the effect.

And comes down to looks to. If you like the Stock look with the RS logo on the caliper vs the Porsche logo.

Both setups look great. Although, really expensive mod and not the best for a true track setup. Not here to weigh-in on one over the other. Just wanted to whore a pic [emoji38]

While not an S4, I'll whore a pic for the other option above mine. I'm running the Carbotech Bobcat 1521's and really happy with this setup. VERY low brake dust and looks to kill.

Both pictures look really good. Red is really nice for the calipers.

Both look awesome! I'd say do the Porsche cause it's overall cheaper. 4 pads per caliper sucks to cover when they need replacing.

Though wave rotors are legit. Just wish they weren't so expensive...
