One of my USP led reverse lights died after three months. Can someone recommend a pair of quality ones?
Thanks!

Update: just received Amazon ones, one day shipping is amazing...
They come a bit smaller than USP ones, and they don't have the lens on the side as the USP ones do.

Here's a picture of the USP reverse led,I forgot to take a picture of the amazon ones, but they are smaller and have no lens.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160521/f29a810bc2611fe1911fcdbd9280daec.jpg

So I installed the left Amazon reverse light.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160521/a6ef94d91c59434b0903c01d55cb53a4.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160521/42508ab8b108d55097bcb2534aab078d.jpg

The light output is very similar to USP and from my human eye, the brightness is the same.
However, the USP seems to have a higher temperature (whiter) but it's hard to tell from naked eyes. (Don't be fooled by the picture, they look exactly the same from naked eyes in terms of brightness and color temperature. )
You can only tell the difference from a crappy low light iPhone picture or when the light projects onto a wall.

Overall, $20 for led reverse lights is pretty decent, the quality seems pretty good based on the 300+ reviews on Amazon.
I might call USP to replace the broken led and return the Amazon ones, but for anyone who's looking for a pair of led reverse lights Amazon is a great option.

Here is the link (Thanks whiped!):

This, USP has great customer service and I imagine the lights have a *1 year guaranty or something similar.

If not, I have this $20 pair off amazon that works well: http://www.amazon.com/Alla-Lighting-CANBUS-Bright-Reverse/dp/B012CQX8LC

Yea I know I can get a replacement but it's really a pita if the replacement dies again in 3 months. I'll try yours. One day shipping is nice to have.

You should take a side by side picture so I can know what the visual difference is in case I need replacements in the future.

My USPs melted themselves (lenses came off the boards) - but the replacements have been rock solid for over a year now..... I'm guessing like any other manufacturing product there are a few bad apples - but they have a LIFETIME warranty - so why not call USP?

Heck - I didn't even bother to call - just sent an e-mail to them on a Sunday (when they were not even open) and got an e-mail bright and early Monday AM - my replacements were on their way - couldn't ask for any better service[:D][;)]

That's a class leading service. I will compare the Amazon ones and try to see if the Amazon ones are better. If not, I will definitely contact USP.

I would call USP. I placed a big order of various led lights from them and other items and they put 8 extra interior bulbs and 2 extra reverse lights. I dont know if it was an accident or not but I am not complaining...

Thank you for the pictures

I do agree that the USP ones look more white at least in the picture and the build quality seems better.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for. You've already paid for the USP ones so I would request a new pair and either keep them as backups or return the Amazon ones.

It's simple, unscrew the square plug and pull the light out. You don't have to do everything in that video. The bulb will unscrew from the housing by itself.

Doh, mistake on my part. [headbang] I thought the reverse light was in the other light cluster, attached to the trunk. I even took the whole housing off when I tried to switch out the leds a few weeks ago. Glad I gave up before doing some real damage. Thanks again.

Alla Lighting Reverse Lights: http://www.amazon.com/Alla-Lighting-CANBUS-Bright-Reverse/dp/B012CQX8LC
Philips 921 Reverse Lights: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-White-Vision-Back-up-light/dp/B00P2D41OQ

I was going to post pictures but, my camera battery decided to die about halfway through so I didn't have a good chance.

Both are Error Free. (I didn't confirm the Philips where but, others are running them)
Both create a very white light. (6000k)
Phillips has a 12yr warranty, Alla a 1yr

Now for the important bits, subjectively the Philips have slightly higher build quality but, the Alla are far brighter and throw considerably further.

At the end of the day both will work however, I would go with the cheaper, brighter Alla lights [:)]

Every LED reverse light I've tried throws an error in my B8 including the Philips LED bulbs from HID Concepts that are reportedly error free. The B8.5 peeps report the same lights are fine. I think I must have turned them on with the bulbs out or backwards as I had one error code when I scanned it.

I cleared that one and did a full scan afterwards -> no codes.

I've ran it for a while now and still have no codes.

Note: It was a softcode, I never had anything pop up on the dash.

So does it clear over time if it initially throw a soft code?

No, I think the only way to see or clear it is by the ODB-II port.

Maybe, but I would download Torque and do it that way. [:)]

I think so, I have not tested it on my S4. Only other cars.

You can try the free version first: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torquefree&hl=en

They do throw errors every once in a while - but the error clears on next key restart......

Philips threw codes on my B8. If you try the USPs let us know how it goes.

I ordered the Amazon ones and unfortunately they threw a code. So I'll send em back and get the USP or Phillips.
Man its a hit and miss. The allas gave me a code. I was about to order the amazon ones but i guess i wont be anymore

So there is absolutely no option for an error free bulb for the B8's. Much disappoint.

Was going to tell you guys the same thing... B8's seem to have a check built in for these and the B8.5 don't or are checked a different way. I'd be interested to know if someone with a B8.5 was to pull out one of their bulbs and start the car and press the brake if the car would even set off a code that a bulb is out. If it doesn't, then you have your answer... the B8.5 doesn't check for out bulbs and the B8 does and this check is done via resistance on the circuit. If Audi did away with it in 2013+ cars, then that's why people with B8.5 cars can run pretty much any LED bulb they want. The good news is this however... anyone wanting to run LEDs for the license plate area on B8 cars can run the simple Sylvania ZEVO LEDs from AutoZone without any issues. Just get the corresponding part number and you're all good with a simple change of the bulb and no errors.

Sorry I forgot about this last night when I got home

I just did a quick few checks while on lunch.

Started the car up, did a full scan via VCDS -> No codes

With the car running, I disconnected the reverse light -> No code on dash, code in VCDS

I put the car in reverse with the light disconnected -> Got the following notification on the dash
http://i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa435/LaxerTech/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_123619_HDR_zpsj1wgjvx6.jpg

Turned the car off and back on -> No codes on dash
Put car in reverse -> Same as above showed up on dash.

Turned the car off, put the bulb back in, and car in reverse -> No code on dash. (Still code in VCDS from earlier)

Cleared the code in VCDS and did another full scan, no codes [:)]

As it looks right now, if you're a B8.5, run whatever you want. If you're B8, you'll need either the USP ones or you'll need to just code the car with VAGCOM to get rid of the errors when putting the car in reverse. These have been my findings in the past. Yes, there's a small chance the USP ones will still trigger codes, that's why they changed the design, the old ones used to sometimes do it on some cars. I guess we'll see how good the new ones are.

Just purchased this set for $18 with free shipping for my 2012 B8. Will update the thread once I install. Fingers crossed for no error code!

So eventually got around to installing the IJDMTOY CAN-bus Error Free 912 921 T15 LED bulbs and what do you know, immediately threw a "bulb out" error code, for both sides....damnn....again this is in my 2012 B8 [down]

Anyone in the RI/MA/CT area with Vag-COM that wants to help write out this code for me? there is a 6-pack of your choice with your name on it if so [up]

bought a set on ebay, exactly like ijdmtoy and ECS sells and throw a code every 1 time out of 3 i hit reverse on my b8.5. So either I got cheap light that LOOK LIKE these but aren't or this type of 15 SMD light can still throw code on B8.5.

I see someone on here uses VLEDS for their fog lights - surprised no one has mentioned this site for the Reverse Lights. I use them and they're the brightest, whitest, (nicest) ones I've ever used!

Before pulling the trigger on ECS, anyone found a quality set for b8.5 without ending up paying 45usd + 20usd shipping to canada ( it end up costing like 85cnd lol... for 2 led.. kinda crazy, i Understand the audi tax but still haha!)
