Just put on the brand new CTS B-Cool on my B8 this afternoon. Definitely a great piece to make the engine bay look sexy. Supposed to drop oil temps too but we'll see if that makes any difference in performance.

I'd be curious to know if it does anything for oil temps.
I've been thinking about getting a metal cover to replace the plastic one, but what did you order? The CTS website is confusing with their verbiage. Is this the same thing as what you installed?

If not, do you have a link?

That's cool! They used a heat sink setup in the housing which will cool somewhat. What do they claim?

I'm actually the first one to put it on a B8 as they just had them machined. I'm guessing Clay will have them up on the site real soon. I believe other colors will be available as well.
Here's a pic of the CTS team observing Nik put on the housing. [up]

that looks like it there, but why is it referred to as a "DSG"? Being DSG or MT6 won't have an effect on the filler housing..

If you match the part numbers in that link it matches this.

Anodized in black would look pretty nice.

The one in the link is for other vag models.....the fine print in the bottom displays "except b8 S4"
I'm guessing this one is specific to the top mounted oil filter setup.

Do they have any data to back their claims? I did not see any on their site. Interesting idea.

I'm confused. Is this for engine oil or dsg transmission fluid?

The one I just installed is for the engine oil. It's a brand new product at CTS and Clay sent me the link here:
http://www.ctsturbo.com/cart/products/CTS_B_Cool_Billet_3_0T_Oil_Filter_Housing-4903-679.html
They have a similar product that is for VW DSG's. I believe they will also be making this in anodized black.

Would love to see some oil temp logs. Its not a lot of money, but...

I can't imagine that it will lower the temp much (maybe a degree or two at best) but it would be nice to change out the plastic for billet aluminum for sure.

Thinking the same, once oil temps warm up, unless there is adequate airflow i dont see how this can cool much.

Ya that's what I was thinking as well. Looks better than the OEM cap and that's all that I need to make me happy. [:p]

I like it. Nothing wrong with a little engine bling. Sweet.

Wonder how this holds up against leaks...thought I read that was an issue with the ECS cap...

That's the one listed the other day. It's not for S4 and it's for the dsg.

Didn't Audi design this engne to have higher oil temps in effort reduce carbon build-up?

Any problem with oil leaking using the CTS housing? There are several mentions of the ECS housing leaking. Also, does anyone know where I can get the plastic stem that attaches the oil filter to the housing?

I couldn't find it on ECS's site, but they do sell the cover by Dorman that has the plastic stem included. You can find that same part on Amazon for roughly $25 less: http://a.co/iU0Xe2N

We've yet to hear of anyone reporting a 3.0T oil filter housing of ours leaking, maybe you're referring to the early 2.0T housings?
As far as the stem you can't purchase it individually. You'll have to buy a new OEM plastic oil filter housing cap.

Hi Jason, I retuned mine well over a two years ago due to leaking oil at the bottom threads. I installed it correctly and leaked right away, housing never sealed properly.
I tried just about everything to make it stop leaking (installed new seals 3 times and even slight over torqued), no luck. I installed the stock plastic housing since then and haven't had any issues, I can give you my order number if necessary, I ordered it back in March 2014 and retuned shortly there after.

Has anyone with the CTS filter housing had any leaking of oil like reported on the ecs housing? Thanks in advance!
