My 2005.5 never had bluetooth, can we add this feature by ordering a few parts? How much would it run?

I don't know but I hope you can add OEM bluetooth later. I got the technology package (2006 model) and the steering wheel but no bluetooth, that is the one option I left out!

Yeah you can no problem, if you have the Nav+ you can access your adress book, receive incoming calls, get caller id on screen and in the D.I.S.

If not you still get caller id in the D.I.S.

Look for some posts by craigyB on www.navplus.us for the part numbers needed.

Parts you need if you do not have standard phone prep is.....

BT module 8P0 862 335 C
BT antenna
Microphone
BT module basic harness ( no cradle )
New lighting center dome for mic

Now to get the unit to come up on your Nav+ you need to code it, and I think it has to be attached to an A3 (8P) for this to work, however there may be a way round this now. I will ask Craig to post on here tomorrow.

Thanks--this thread should help many people.

So my question is that this should be able to make my nav + blue tooth compatible and have caller i d and stuff right?

I just hope i can find some one also to help code everything.

You can still add bluetooth and you get it come up in the D.I.S display.

However with nav units coming up for around $6-800 you have no excuse not to fit it! ;)

How the hell do you get to that screen?

When I press TEL it just says "Use telephone", the only way I can dial is by voice command or actually dialing the # on the phone itself. BTW I've got the OEM Bluetooth & a Razr.

I was offered a couple of units for $800 and a few people have said that they got them for even less.
just keep an eye on ebay, they do crop up.
I paid €900 for the RNS-E, wiring adapter, gps antenna, fm adapter and a 2005 nav disc, and that was delivered. Takes around 30 mins to fit in total if you have symphony already.

Cruz, you need to programme the car and the bluetooth unit, seearch for all posts by craigyB on www.navplus.us as he is the one who got them fitted and running with all functions working.

You need to check if you have RNS-E TEL interface installed (part # 8P0 862 335 B). OEM location is under passanger seat (you can check it out with VAG too), but I'm 99% that you don't have it because dealers didn't have a clue what I'm talking about even when I showed them part #s [:D]

Razr is perfect to use with Bluetooth because it works over simple BT protocol and all phone pbook is transfered to RNS-E without any problems.

There is now a really long thread on www.navplus.us where they are getting the bluetooth to run on US units.
Worth having a look as there are links to buy the parts need for an easy install.

Proxus are you selling the bluetooth parts in the states?

My dealer (Chicago) asked $3700 for the Navi instalation (parts included). When I asked them why is it that much over the factory price($1800) they said that cars come wired different from the factory when u order the Navi. They said they will have to change all the wires from ECU to the Navi unit .. and something else.

All just a big scam. I left without buying anything .. Then after searching on ebay and on different websites I actually bought my unit with much more less then half the dealer was asking for. Installation took about 15 minutes, all plug and play.
I freeked out I almost bought it from the dealer .. Some dealers just steal from people .. that's what they do ! .. different wiring

I am going to resurrect this thread. I have not got Nav+, and don't want to spend the money for it, as I won't use it. I do want to add bluetooth to the car, and already have the buttons on the steering wheel. Is this easy to do, or do I need to replace the center console light to add the mic, and a ton of other things?

I am like A4TwoZeroT and very lazy, so is this something that I can have the dealer do? I know my dealership fairly well, so I don't think that they will overcharge me, but want to know as much as possible before I go in...

I am in the process of reading the other links found within this thread, but wanted to start the question process...

You will need parst required bu technology package for cars without NAV RNS-E. This install is not very popular because it doesn't give you all TEL features like RNS-E.

In theory you should be able to patch to K line and CANs with the same TEL interface used for RNS-E and it should give you Caller ID info on the DIS / FIS. You will need to recode your Instrument cluster with VAG.

...but I'm not sure if Phonebook will be accessible via TEL steering wheel button and visible on DIS/FIS (this feature is not enabled on RNS-E TEL interface)

The best shot is to call dealer and get part numbers for TECH package Bluetooth TEL interface.

I think instead that I will wait until my lease is up in 22 more months, then go buy another A4 with all this stuff on it... hahaha, thanks for your help though, I just read your posts in the navi forum, and they are very helpful. Please keep up the great work!!!

cheers!
