20k Service for B8.5 S4 and what oil to use?

what needs to be done for 20k service coming soon and my shop said i use liquimoly 5w30 instead of 5w40 due to its thickness. is this correct? [confused] My car is still stock aside from intake and exhaust.

There is no 20k service. Google "2014 Audi Maintenance schedule" and you will find all of your info. Also google "audi approved oils" and all oil answers will be there.

+1 for no official 20K service interval. But if you do decide to do a preventative oil change (I did), I used Pennzoil SAE 5W40. You can use any SAE 5W40 engine oil.

I've got a 2014 S4 also, no 20k service, but I did put in some oil (Pennzoil SAE 5W40) around 22k miles or so, so an oil change at 20k is a pretty solid idea. I just did the 25k service on mine this week.

so 25k is just oil change? does it matter to use 5w30 vs 5w40?

Audi specification is VW 502 00 for the B8/B8.5 S4's. I used the following for my first oil change and will do so for all subsequent changes.

Mobile 1 European Blend SAE 0W-40
Mann oil filter HU 722 z
