hi all. my aftermarket radio not working now so im looking to update from single to double din on a a4 b5 pre facelift is this a big job ?

Ideally to do this, you will retrofit the entire center console over to facelift. This means you would need to re-wire the HVAC controller, rewire the fog light switches to facelift switches, and swap out the face of the hazard switch to the facelift hazard switch face.

So it can be a big job if you're not prepared... means sourcing all of the center console pieces, fitting them, re-wiring, etc.

There was one guy who converted his pre-facelift to double din, but he was very crafty. This required relocating the pre-facelift HVAC controller to where the ashtray currently resides.

In short, converting over to double-din is not easy on a pre-facelift B5.
