SO…. I am preparing myself for some flames, but I figured I would ask anyways.

It is time for me to peel the plasti-dip off my wheels, as it a.) has aged and looks like shit, and, b.) I am prepping to order new wheels in the very near future. My current wheels are 19” RS4 7-spokes which I dip’d black a while ago. I think black works well with the Oyster Grey and it has been the plan for the new wheels to be black (I don’t have pics at work for reference, and I need to post new ones showing the new drop with my coils anyways). But, a while ago when I was going to do a redo I almost pulled the trigger on bronze, but I bailed. I wasn’t confident on my ability to achieve the shade I was looking for.

So now that I am going to do the job, I figured I would be the Audi test dummy and try out AUTODIP. I’m hoping I can achieve the real GLOSSY finish I want.

BUT THE QUESTION IS….

Do I re-dip black, like I had, like I like, like my original theme was…
-OR-
Do I bail and try out bronze, which I have had an itch for, could peel immediately if I wasn’t feeling it, and would be temporary until I order my wheels.

Opinions?

Look at the AUTODIP page for the blue Porsche with bronze wheels (AZ wouldn't let me link it) - I figure that is what my shade could come out to...

I, for one, would like to see how bronze looks. I say go for it and, as you say, you can peel it immediately if you don't like it.

The bronze will defintely look good, go for it. And whats wrong with plastidip anyway? I just dipped some A8 wheels black and plan on dipping my entire B6 avant black next month. DIPTHEPLANET!!!!

If you can peel it off immediately if you don't like it, I say take the chance and go for it. That itch won't go away unless you scratch it, and as you said, it would be temporary until you ordered. If you don't like it, no harm no foul.

I say go for it, bronze has definitely grown on me for a wheel color. Worst case, you peel it off, no big deal

No problem with dip, I have used with good and not-so-good results, I am just looking for a glossier, less rubber/orange-peel looking finish.

And WOW! I was not expecting this kind of love for the bronze wheel color. I guess I should have actually used the old plasti-dip I ordered a while ago (it was gold-metalizer though, if i remember correctly).

Also, I'm going to be ordering a WIFI ODBII unit and using the Carista app to do some VAGCOM mods and open my rear calipers for painting and rotor swap, so stay tuned for reviews on that!

you can always do two rims and mount it on one side to get a idea if you like it or not and if so continue doing the other two afterwards.

Use the glossifier on your last coat. I've seen dips that look similar to paint in gloss

PHOTOSHOP REQUEST

I am about to place an order for the Autodip. Although it is removable, the colors I see on the internet seem to differ greatly. I would love it someone could photoshop .
either the wheels from one of these cars on to mine. Or, preferably, change the color of my wheels to this color.

TIA!

Thanks B5BAR.

I have seen copper, idk if i can pull it off with grey. I think bronze is a stretch, but still doable. The only "problem" is that is come in so many different shades, that's why I was looking for a photoshop job.

I'm looking for different, I enjoy being noticed (subtly). I want something that will make a statement, but not say "HEY EVERYBODY, COME SEE HOW GOOD I LOOK! -" and that still sticks to "this is a refined audi".

Thanks man.
Honestly, I am glad I didn't see that before I did it. I probably would have bailed if it came out like that haha

Still planning on dropping a write up once I get real pictures. But here is (a really shitty) pic I snapped yesterday. You can kind of see the gloss effect and how the color changes when the sun catches.
