I only have one key for my Avant, is there any way to re-program it into the keyless entry?

Maybe if I ordered a new valet key or other key without fob?

I thought you just had to manually lock it a couple times and it would sync?

I bought a valet key from the dealership for ~$30 and did it that way.
I think you can do it with vcds if you have that?

I can't make it work with vcds, you need two keys I'm pretty sure, you don't need two remotes just two keys so a valet key will work.

I thought so too but it seems that is with the ignition on which can only happen with an extra key.
I just performed the antenna upgrade tsb (installing an updated antenna harness under the rear bumper) but am not getting any response.

I'll use a parts-store fob tester to ensure it's not my key at fault and check the ross-tech wiki for scan tool method of programming my key.

I do not believe you can do a remote adaptation with VCDS on a B5. It can tell you how many remotes are programmed, but it can't do anything else.

I attempted this before on my B5. I figured that if I could fake the "ignition RUN" signal to the lock module, I'd be home free. So I pulled the fuse and stuffed a wire in with constant power. Didn't work. I believe it also wants to see the "key in" switch closed.

It's definitely possible to do without 2 physical keys, but you need to fake the presence of one or the other. Ignition switch or door switch. Whichever you think is easier.

Sorry off topic.

Does this work for pre-facelift? I saw the tsb and it was for a 98, but my antenna is in the d-pillar. Do all b5 have them on the pump?

The antenna is in the D pillar but it plugs into the central locking module (which the pump is in/on).
This tsb should be compatible with all pre-facelift although I think it's only supposed to be for pre-03/98 vehicles.

There are different tsbs for Avant and Limousine models.

Sorry for the double post.

Is this the TSB you used?

Yep. But I have an Avant so there's a different but almost identical one.
