View Full Version : Door lock actuator problems

I started noticing intermittent issues with the Passenger door not unlocking with the rest of the doors, until it was a constant issue. I picked this '09 Prestige up in October and it was not an issue at the time. Still under 100k.

After some research, I decided I needed a new actuator. Or at least that would be the quickest fix. After sourcing one for $100 on Aliexpress (yes, it was a gamble, let's not get into why I made that decision. But that it is part of the situation), I installed it this weekend. I made sure to connect everything that I disconnected and the door unlocks and locks, but that is just a minor success.

NOW, the part I come to ask about is: The car now acts like it does not know it is locked. i.e. every time I cross 10mph it tries to lock again (very annoying in LA rush hour), it does not chirp to confirm alarm is armed, and the red light on the interior lock switches do not light up red any more.

I am assuming it is the new Aliexpress actuator being the issue. Or it's some coding thing that I have not heard of. I do have VAG-COM, but it's in another city right now, so that will have to wait. In the meantime, I will open up the OE actuator and see if I can spot the issue. Hopefully it's just a bad solder joint that busted from repeated door slams and I can repair it.

Any suggestions and ideas are welcome. I'm thinking about addressing it with the seller on AE.

I have the exact same issue in my 08 3.2. I haven't gotten around to replacing the actuator yet so I don't have too much helpful advice, but I CAN tell you that as far as getting the car to stop re-locking when you pass 10 mph (I agree it gets annoying), if you engage the manual lock on the inside of that passenger door, the door will stay permenantly locked from the outside and the rest of the locks will act as normal. The only thing is you'll only be able to open that door from the inside, which may be a hassle if you have constant passengers

I also posted on this issue a while back, here's a link. Hope it helps! http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=676034

Thanks for the input. I will try to see that helps my issue. But I'm pretty sure I tried that already.

I was super busy this weekend (going out of town for business this week) so I did not have a chance to open the OE one up and have a look. I will likely do it some time this week and have something to report back.
