View Full Version : Rear ABS Tone Ring inspection

02-10-2016, 08:39 AM
I have slow speed ABS pulsing (under 20 mph), one pulse per wheel rev.
I cannot get the rear wheel speed sensor out (rusted in solid). Front left replaced, front right cleaned.

Since the pulsing is one pulse per wheel rev (and NO ABS code, wheel speed data showing in VAGcom on all 4 channels), could it be a dirty tone ring?
Is it possible to inspect the tone ring of the rear shafts by just removing the axle bolt and push the shaft in, exposing the tone ring (remove rubber boot)?

Any other suggestions what to check or try to eliminate the annoying low speed ABS pulse?

Swapped ABS module (on pump) with new one, no change.

Its either cracked ring, dirty ring, messed up sensor, or messed up module. My money is on cracked ring.
