By looking at the area where the OEM paddle would fit into these, I would say "No" because ours are shaped differently.

Does anyone who has this on their key fob feel that has significantly reduced the distance that you can use the key to lock/unlock the car? I am finding that I cannot be further than about 10 feet from the car for it to work. Prior, I could be a solid 30-50 feet away. Maybe my fob battery is starting to fail and it is just coincidence.

I had issues with my iphone 4s when I had a carbon case on it. I don't think RF and carbon fiber get along very well...

Not sure if it has to do with the Carbon itself or just the mere fact of adding material to the outside.

BTW, wasn't the iphone 4S the one that suffered from antennagate? [;)]

Yea, it was haha. I only had that phone for like 2 months. Switched to android, never looked back.

Also, this article goes into the shielding properties of carbon fiber http://www.mtt-serbia.org.rs/microwave_review/pdf/Vol11No1-06-SRea.pdf

I see what you did there. 1st world problem I know. HOWEVER, being able to roll down my windows from the comfort of my air conditioned office (prior to leaving of course) when it is 110 degrees outside (140 in the car) has its benefits.
Plus, coming from someone who lives in a place where it has been raining since the day the earth cooled, I think you would appreciate the ability to roll up your windows remotely if they were left down and it started to rain.

YUP! but I dont mind tho. The carbon fits so perfect around the key, I stare at it all the time! haha

This whole key range thing got me thinking, maybe we could solder an wire onto the antenna in the fob? I got it apart to the pcb, but can't really figure out where the antenna is. I suspect it's the ring on the pcb at the bottom of the board.

I've thought about that before too. It's a mod done on other brands quite often. I'd be interested to know

If you have any problems with range of your key fob just put it to your head, honestly just try it.
Don't take my word for it watch this ;

I have done it and it works but range is still very poor.
Like I said, 1st world problem. The looks of the fob now is worth the reduced range.

Do you guys have fitment issues like this? And it's supposed to just stay on with the included 3m tape? I thought it'd snap together or something. Is mine defective?

SinCityA6

Mine comes together pretty well. Yours appears to have more of a gap. The pieces are secured by 3M tape.

Just installed mine, it fits perfect edge to edge. Unfortunately the range has dramatically decreased from about 50 feet to 5ft ( one time the key wasn't even recognized in the car). And the smart key won't lock/ unlock unless I stand next to the car for about a minute with the key next to door... (Forced to actually use the fob). Thinking about drilling a small hole by receiver light. None the less the key looks amazing and fits perfect, and I don't mind the bad signal

I would replace the battery. My spare set does the dame thing. Replaced battery and all fixed.

Did you happen to find the antenna? Would love to try this as well.
I have replaced battery and still have issues with the fob.

I didn't. I did speak with one of the engineers at work, and he thinks it may be a 3 layer pcb with the antenna in the middle, but that's just a theory. There are many, many chips in there for a keyfob.

I also bought a C7 key to disassemble and try to get the flip key board into, but the board in there is basically permanently attached, so no go there either. :(

Interesting, so should I purchase this or what? It looks amazing but 5 ft of signal is a turn off... don't think it would lock or unlock my car from my garage door pad to the car and that's about 7 to 10 ft....

Whether you purchase or not is going to be up to you and your preference. I think the key cover looks great on my key and compliments my CF interior trim so I can deal with the reduced range; a trade off I am willing to accept solely because of my CF trim. If I didn't have the CF trim then I probably wouldn't add the key cover as there would be no other CF in the car. Just my .02

In my experience, you are lucky to get 10 feet. Mine seems to work better when approaching from the rear of the car than from the front. May be related to the position of the module in the car.
