How do you guys monitor your oil pressure? Do you have a gauge set up? do you use any other form of monitoring? what do you recommend?

Your vehicle already has a safety programmed to alert you if it senses low oil pressure.

But if you want constant monitoring you would need to install a mechanical gauge.

This could be T'd off from the factory oil pressure sensor location on the oil filter housing assembly.

Something like this...

Jason, thank you for the response. i'm looking into constant monitoring as I read people having the light go off right before catastrophic failure.

Unfortunately even with a mechanical gauge unless you keep an eye on it most of the time pressure can begin to drop quickly enough to cause damage. It doesn't take much to trash an engine once specific parts are oil starved.

I had the same idea too...
With the few oil pump issues thread I just read, this could be a real nightmare if this happen!
Is the oil pump issue is something that happen frequently on the B7?

Typically no, however more and more are popping up because frankly this platform is beginning to age to the point where other thing like this will be shown. A properly maintained vehicle reduces these chances.

Yes I agree. Keeping up with preventative maintenance and making sure you inspect the vehicle (I do it daily, but yeah, that's overboard) will help preventing such issues becoming a reality.
