4.2 vs 4.0t?

Looking at various powerplants on CPO A8's in 2013/14. Given similar miles (35k ish), would the 4.0t be worth $15-20k more? I see the appeal of the twin turbo...but...$$20k?

I guess it depends on what you want. If you get the 4.2 you have to understand that the power you have is what you have to live with forever unless you dump piles of money into it to make it fast. The 4.0T is a monster and makes a shithouse of power. If you get bored with it you can flash a stage 1 tune to it and have massive gains. Obviously other people like it if there that much of a gap in value right?

the 4.2 in the A8 is not slow by any means but it is not going to frighten anyone like the 4.0 can. What is your end game?

Having driven both - the 4.0T is an absolute beast. The 4.2 is a nice powerplant and will get the job done, but the 4.0T puts a grin on your face that lasts for days.

4.2 for basic transportation - 4.0 for grins. What are you looking for?
