ok so i have a b7 2.0t and had a pcv issue after going through the stock ones (1 every year it seems) i desided to upgrade to the bsh pvc fix. this was three weeks ago i installed the part. great quality part and easy install. But since i installed it the car seems to consume 1qt of oil a week and i get a terrible oil burning smell from the exhaust and engine compartment, any thoughts as to why this may be happening. My car is catless so im used to some smell from that area, just did not have this issue before switching out the pcv. Maybe its normal to use that amount of oil! Thanks for any help you can provide.

Definitely not normal. Compression test?

get under the car and open up the lower intercooler hose going from the metal tube under the radiator to the bottom of the intercooler on the drivers side see if any oil comes out of there. I opened mine up once and about a quart of oil came out!!! you might be forcing oil into the intake system from the valve cover vent tube that goes from the valve cover to the turbo. Audi released an updated part, there is a check valve in there as well that's probably not working. its a quick easy place to check and rule out if it's being forced into the intake system.

I have a early 05.5 a4 so I don't think my tube has that check valve if I remember correctly. Maybe I need one for the bsh fix to work correctly.

Do you still have the old PCV unit? Put it back on and see if the problem goes away. If so, then you'll know it's an issue with the BSH device. Another possibility is a cracked valve cover, but I'm guessing it's the BSH unit since the problem started after you installed it.

My old pcv unit is junk and causes the vehicle to run terrible. This fixed the running ruff issue. I believe there maybe a problem with the other half of the pcv not doing its job. I will dig deeper into it this weekend

I have the same car and the BSH plate. Have you checked your vacuum pump? Back of the engine at the firewall - mine croaked recently and was leaking oil pretty badly. Could be that's where you're losing the oil...

I will check there. My issue is the oil is not on the ground so it's being burned or forced out the exhaust by the smell of things

Had yhe same problem-valve cover innards deteriorated and was sucking oil through the pcv and dumping it in the intercoolers. Bernardi audi parts-$270 delivered with gasket& bolts. Dont over tighten it. Hope this helps. Common issue.

Have you had anyone behind you checking if you have blue smoke or similar when you give it full throttle? My first guess if you have blue smoke and very high oil consumption, would be the turbo.

Turbos new and no blue smoke.

Did you replace the valve cover is that what you are saying?

I'd check it just to be on the safe side - mine was leaking for quite a while with nothing on the ground (and a burning smell from the oil dripping on the trans). Turns out the belly pan was catching (and holding) a lot of oil. When I finally took it off the whole thing was covered with oily goo 1/4" thick.
