Hello,

I have replaced all four spark plugs in my stock 98 AEB yesterday with Bosch multi prong F7LTCR. I bought them as they were the original factory spark plugs that came with AEB motors.

But today I was reading some forums where I saw that for 1.8T .032" is the gap required for stock and .028" is the gap for chipped cars. And the original

Audi repair manual(should have referred earlier) recommends electrode gap in the range of 0.027" to 0.035".

The Bosch F7LTCR comes pre-gaped .039" but is outside the range specified in the forums and Audi service manual. Wondering why the original spark plug which Audi used is outside the range specified by Audi itself. And I know gap in multi prong plugs cannot be adjusted as well..

Does anybody know whether this should be fine or do I need to get NGK PFR6Q itself?

I've never heard of anyone gapping 3 prongs. I bought some a few months ago and didn't touch them just dropped them in. With a lot of air added into the mix I never had any issues.

Yes, I know we don't gap multi prong plugs as it nearly impossible to gap them equally. My concern is this F7LTCR gap falls outside the specs, so should I go back to the original PFR6Q(.032") or stick with F7LTCR(.039") itself?

What was the gap of the 3 prong plug you bought?

.031 essentially so yours are pretty big.
Do you have stock coils? I have r8 coils and cannot get away with massive gaps. I have .024 currently, but people say they can run larger gaps.
