I bought an Android 4.4.4 and I am attempting to prove that I am an electronics idiot. I can't seem to get this to work. The pics are of the unit I pulled out and the connections and the other pic is of the unit and all the accessory connections that came with it. I need help figuring out why I get no rear speakers /subwoofer at all. I unhooked the 3 horizontal connectors just to the left of the fuse on the back of the stock unit and hooked them to the supplied connector that has the big black square that is labeled Power Connector with ISO. Connected the antenna adaptor to the rear of the unit and then to the mustard looking plug that came out of the back of the stock unit. What is the bottom left pin connector on the stock unit just below where it is marked FM50. On my new unit it looks like there is nothing to connect it to. Other questions. There was no vertical connector plugged in (or even anywhere behind the radio in the dash that was unplugged. Is that correct? All the RCA jacks are just hanging there. do they need to be plugged into something? The CANBUS was connected to the Power Connector with Special connector. I removed it from that connector and pugged it into the connector with ISO. How do I know if my car has a built in AMP and the RCA's need to be connected?

One more question about the antenna. I bought a double FAKRA antenna adapter cable because I wanted to use the shark fin antenna as well. How do get that connected? Is there a cable already run sitting behind the glove box? Is there a dead lead sitting in the trunk? If so, Do I need to run a wire from the head unit to the trunk.

I think that is it.

TBH I really don't know what the hell I am doing. So I need someone to help direct me. Please don't offer the advice to read the 50+ pages of the thread about aftermarket NAV installs as I already spent almost 4 hours reading it and it only made my head spin more. I need answers in layman terms or at least with the level of detail that I can follow.

Thanks and if anyone is in CT and would like to help I am around tomorrow night and would be willing to drive there to get some assistance

Have you asked the radio supplier? Seems that you need to get 12v to the OEM amp that I believe you have (based on web search for symphony radio). Looks like 11 is intended to power the amp and antenna. Does the symphony unit have a wiring diagram indicating where the amp power wire is?

Solution to all my problems.... Bring it all to an installer and a printout of the post by MARKCM on this page http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?7158675-Head-Unit-Recommendation/page3& and that was all I needed. Paid the installer $20 in parts and $25 labor and I am up and running. My son will be happy!

Thanks, Joe
