How far have you pushed it once your fuel gauge moves from solid red to the blinking red indicator?

In my old car, I knew exactly how many days I could drive/commute after my fuel gauge red empty/0 miles remaining...after having run out of gas on the 4th day [facepalm]

However, not wanting to do that again with the S6, I'm wondering how far you guys are comfortable pushing it once your gauge starts blinking at you? I've not gone more than maybe 20 miles once it starts flashing. The most gas I've ever been able to put in at a fill up is 18.9 gallons, so I know I had a bit of room to spare.

What is your experience?

For reasons that I can't quite explain, I'm not comfortable testing the limits with this car like I have with previous cars. I had a good idea with my S4. The numbers seemed to drop at a predictable rate. I would sit at 35 miles to empty for a good little while, for instance. With the S6, that shit goes from 35 to 0 ricky tick.

I fill up when it's around 1/4 tank....IMO too many possible issues/scenarios taking it that low bro....not worth it

Most I have filled up with is 19.2 gal. Usually when it says 0 miles to empty there is still the reserve 30-40 miles left. As the others have stated I usually don't push it and average 16-17 gal per fill-up.

Dang. The max I have filled up was 15gallons which was the lowest I went- just because I had $1.25/gallon discount on my rewards card. Lol.

I have never left my tank to that near empty. The most I have ever pushed was until the gauge said I could drive for 20 miles more.

I fill up when the initial red light hits, the DIS usually says 15-25 range left. But as others have stated that means you end up filling 16.x gallons of fuel. With a 19.8 gallon tank there is a fair amount of gas left when that light hits red. But there might be some minimum amount of fuel needed to guarantee it won't fuel starve.

Personally I never push it and I've never run out of gas. I didn't even know the red light blinked if you get really low.

Without commenting on whether "pushing it" is a good idea or not, it's been my experience with our 5 Audis that there's about a 1 gallon reserve after the DIS says zero miles to empty.

I fill up whenever I buy beer so never even close... my daily commute is 7 miles
