I'm tired of the chrome tips being covered in carbon build up / trying to keep the looking good on my S7. Not to mention, I'm just getting tired of the chrome look. That said, has anyone tried the plasti-dip route on their tips, and if so, how did they look / hold up? Or should I be considering power coating or even swapping out the tips for something like the AWE diamond black tips?

Yeah, cost isn't the driving factor here -- more like what's most effective. The other reason I was even considering plasti-dip, was the ability to reverse back to chrome when I sell the car.

I dont think plasti dip can take the heat. Those tips get hot. . Someone is selling some black tips in the classifieds. Don't know if they will fit your pipes or not

I used high temperature spray paint from Home Depot.

Sand them and then hit them with high-temp spray paint or caliper paint.

Ignore the fact that red exhaust is the worst choice ever - this Z owner showed wear and tear after a month of the plasti dip being on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhX_x1luD3E. Not sure if that helps your decision or not.
powder coating the factory tips will be a PIA, you'd either have to chop the tips or mufflers and then get them welded back on. neverdull works great on making the stock tips shiny again and removing all the black gunk off, but if you're tired of the chrome and cleaning it, it probably doesn't matter.

outside held up a lot better after a month than I thought it would.

How about some aftermarket dual walled tips? Dimisa had some good options for my BMW - are there any options for us?
