View Full Version : Considering a CPO 2012 A6 3.0T and I have some questions

I'm going to be selling my B6 and looking for a C7 A6. I have found a CPO 2012 A6 3.0T Premium Plus with cold weather, sport pack (not sure if 19" or 20"), and side assist pack. The car has 50k miles and from what I can tell the CPO warranty runs until January 2018. I keep having a hard time finding a car with the sport pack in my price range and this one just popped up in my searching yesterday. There are plenty of cars with around 30k miles with roughly the same amount of time left on the CPO warranty for a couple grand more but they don't have the sport pack. Should I be concerned about buying a car with 50k miles? Is the sport pack really worth having on a car this size? Thanks guys!

The car in question:

I have 54k trouble free (knock on wood) miles. I enjoy paddle shifting so sport pkg was a must.

For reference I negotiated the same car color options with 42k miles down to $28k non cpo new tires clean carfax with audicare at a bmw dealer in NJ 7 months ago but walked when they low balled my trade...unless you need a car today I would pass.

If it's the car in the photos, that's the 19" sports package. Not sure what your price range is, but it would have to be pretty cheap for me to buy an almost 5 years old car with 50k already on the clock. As for the sports package - when I bought an A6 a few years back, I wouldn't look at any without it. I thought I'd be paddle shifting all over the place. Ended up using that feature maybe 5 times in the 14 or so months I owned the car. I was also not a big fan of the 19" sports package wheels and ended up trading them to a S6 owner for his 20's. The slightly lower suspension was definitely appreciated though. If I were shopping an A6 again, I'd likely still opt for the sports package, since overall it's a pretty decent bang for the buck, but you'd have to assess whether your anticipated use of those features are worth the extra cost.

I just went from a C5 allroad to a similar CPO C7 A6 Prestige , a few less miles with the 20" sports package and LED head lights. Negotiated mine to around 32k. Car is flawless and you will love the switch to the C7.

Whats the asking price on it? You definitely need the sports package.

The age does kind of worry me and the miles. I only drive around 10k a year so the CPO would time out before the mileage point. I really like the lower ride height and the 3-spoke wheel which is why I'm really wanting the sport pack.

Oh yea most definitely if I decide to get it. Just still debating if I should hold out. The mileage is my biggest hang up.

Exactly how many miles does it have. You can cpo a car over 50k, but you only get 2 years from purchased date, not two years on top of the factory warranty. Something to consider.

If the age and miles worry you, you aren't going to find newer and less miles for less money. I wouldn't worry about the miles, providing you won't be liking them on.

hmm..haven't heard of this. I assumed all CPO are the same with the 2 yr/100K miles, with the 2yrs being an extension from expiration of factory warranty (not from purchase date).

Two years from original purchase date, or a total of 100k miles is how I understood it. I.E., a 2012 CPO car would be covered up to 2018 (the factory 4 year bumper-2-bumper, plus an additional two years), or 100k miles.

1. Definitely think sports package is worth it; many members recommended to me before buying, and am glad I followed their suggestion. Sports suspension is great for handling a car of this size.

2. I would not worry too much about the miles - especially if one owner and dealer/seller can provide all service records.

I bought a 2013 premium plus back in late 2013 with 5k miles, sports package, driver's assistance, side assist, CPO, and Audi Care for something like $56k. I think you can do better.

50,252 miles I believe. The car was sold as a CPO once already but according to the car fax the second owner only had it 7 months.

I would definitely work them down on price. I was thinking something around $27k would be pretty good.

Decide if you like the paddle shifters by test driving one at your local dealership and then you will have your answer. Personally, I would pay no more than $500 for a sport pkg equipped model vs one that doesn't have it, all else being the same. If you care about lower miles, let that be the deciding factor. I wouldn't worry too much about reliability of the C7, they've been very reliable from what I've seen over the years. For reference, I got a not-so-much-loved A6 and its been very reliable. Good luck!

How much more for a CPO prestige sport with LED in your area? For a 12/13'shouldn't be that much more, SSOOO worth the premium IMO. Prestige gives you the S-line exterior, 4 zone climate control, F&R parking sensors, and seat ventilation etc. LED lights makes the car look bad ass.....folks with 16' LEDs still are in love with the C7 version....Once your stg 2, you'll be glad you have the paddles to f with.

I would read the paperwork and confirm with the dealer. Mine told me otherwise. I was surprised as well.

FYI, the CPO website says UP to 6 years, 100k. It also says 24 months and 50k miles AFTER the factory warranty expires. At 50,200, your warranty will already have expired so you only would get 2 additional years and a total of 100k.

You'll probably want to pick up Audi's wrap "Pure" coverage warranty. Even though your car is a CPO vehicle, there are several daily used components which ARE NOT covered. By no means am I trying to strike fear, just making a recommendation based on my knowledge of Audi's CPO warranty. Feel free to read up on their CPO...can you believe, your Navi isn't covered should it break?

None exist right now in my price range. It's around 8-10k more for Prestige with sport, LEDs, etc. I have only one '13 Prestige in my price range but it's missing the sport pack. I'm kinda thinking I should wait for a better deal to come along being either a Prestige model or one similar to this car but with less miles and a longer warranty.

Yea this was my main worry is the car would only be covered for 2 years.

Good information. I didn't know that.

I am very curious as to this as well. At this point I think I'm going to pass on this car and just wait since I'm in no hurry.

If you are not in a hurry and your current car drives fine, I agree to be patient.
