Just picked up my 2012 A6 Prestige today. One of my favorite things about Audi's are the headlights. Loved them on my A4 and the A6 are awesome too. I have the xenon lights, not LEDs. However, after taking my car out for a spin tonight I wanted to check out the lights and got out of my car and walked about half block in front of the car to check out the lights. I noticed when I bent down that one seemed much brighter than the other. Is this possible? Car only has 21k miles. I know there's some kind of adaptive feature I have on as well or maybe it was just the angle I was looking at them. Anyone else notice this? Could just be me being paranoid. Thanks!

Yes, this is normal. The way your have adaptive headlights are designed, the passenger side light "throws" more light than the drivers side so as to limit the glare for oncoming traffic.

Ok my drivers side seemed brighter. Make sense? And if I turn adaptive off they'll be equal?

The driver side is going to seem brighter because it cuts off more light and consolidates it in your immediate field of view. If you turn on your high beams, both headlights should be equal.

Thanks for the explanation. Does turning adaptive light off change anything? Or are the features you mentioned automatically on.

I'm pretty sure that it's automatic because I've never seen option to turn it off.

There is an option to turn adaptive light off on my MMI. Not sure if it changes anything, though.

Really? I don't think I see that option in my car... Please give more details.

I think the adaptive light off option means that you turn off that light when you steer harder at any direction to give you more light to see in the corners. Like cars with fogs lights when you steer it to the left or right. I have full LED lights in my car and when I turn off the adaptive lights it means that the "corner" lights switches off. In A6 2012 and forward, both Xenon and LED headlights fog lights are built in the headlights.

I believe for Xenon headlights, the lights move with the steering wheel direction when turning.
For LED lights, it's the static cornering lights (under the DRL) that come on when taking a turn.

Took the car to dealer and said they performed a "headlight adjustment." The only difference I can tell is now the driver's side points lower and the passenger higher. Could be me just being paranoid.

You can adjust headlight levels manually with a few twists of a screwdriver. I have LED's and they were way too low. I leveled them up just enough so I don't blind other drivers and made them even. Just pop the hood and you will see the holes right on the headlight housing that you can adjust.
