Have a 2016 A6 3 Prestige. When reviewing the oil level information in the manual it states "add oil if the bar of the oil level is near minimum". Is there a way to determine when the level of the bar means in relation to how much oil you need?
Assume at the top it means the oil level is at our near maximum, but does 3/4 full mean you need 1/4 of a quart, or one bar above minimum mean you need a quart? How low does the oil have to get for a red light to appear? Thanks

Dude, our cars hold at least 6 quarts, I'm sure someone else knows the exact amount. What I've done with all my Audi's was add about a half of quart when I was down 1/4 on my gage then I'd go look at my gage, they're very sensitive, you'll see the oil gage change with every half of quart. If you're only down a little start off with a little. It's actually pretty straight forward.

I can only speak for the B8 A4 but the MMI oil level indicator only measures the top quart of oil. When the light goes on, you're down a quart. The whole thing holds approximately 5 quarts. We have also been told to only add oil when the indicator goes off. Be careful to to add too much oil.
When in doubt, go to the dealer. They'll top you up for free, and if they flood the engine, it's on them.
