Hey fellas, I've done some reading on this already, and I think I should be fine, but just want to double check if anyone in NJ with an APR stage 1 tune has done a NJ inspection lately and had any problems passing inspection? My understanding is that with stage 1, there should be no problem because the file doesn't turn off any emission readiness codes for the cat or 02 sensor, so I should be fine. Or, to be safe, should I just switch back to APR stock mode? Will the state inspectors know I have a staged ecu? Thanks in advance.

You should be fine. I run a stage 2+ tune in NJ, am catless, and my car smells like a gas station...and I still pas in NJ.

Haha thanks! Do you program switch back to stock tune, or just leave at Stage 2 for the inspection?

I passed inspection a few weeks ago. I left mine tuned and passed all readiness with no o2 spacer for my hfc. Only they wouldnt give me a matching inspection sticker.

i've been trying to pass nj inspection for like 6 months, K04 with the APR tune, I cant get my emissions to run even in stock mode. Get pulled over about once a week for my rejected sticker but no tickets yet [drive]

I have the k04 93 octane file, apr doesn't really give it a stage name so it's stage 2 II+ or stage 3 depending on who you ask

Ah, then that sorta makes sense as you prob have a test pipe file (anything over stage 1), which deactivates the emissions readiness.

Maybe I should go to your inspection station to be safe. Lol

Yeah I know, my problem is whenever I switch back to the stock file I get a p000a code and that doesn't let the drive cycle run to reset my emissions readiness. Already replaced my n205 valve and that didn't solve it so next I'm going to check my oil return lines for clogs and hopefully that solves it. It sucks because the people at the dmv just tell me if their computer says I have no cat then they can't do anything about it. Even though I do have one.

I have a APR KO4 with a test pipe [;)]. Pass 2 years straight [up]. I also fail one of the readiness tests. But in NJMVC your are allowed 1 to fail out of 4

Remember it will depend on which inspection station you do. They do visual inspection in NJ at times, so you may fail if you are test pipe for just that.

Find a shady private emissions place in the hood. If the guy has any questions Pull money out of your pocket and say you think he dropped this. If he says no take more money out of pocket and say i saw you drop it.

I have people you can pay for legit inspection, but its $80 lol. They will let a readiness monitor fail as well.
Haha and yes I'd recommend newark dmv for sure.

Lol theres a show called jacked that takes place in newark around the auto task force. All they do is drive around is at night in unmarked cars looking for stolen cars box them in and plant bait cars.

Ok, finally got around to taking it in for the state inspection today, and it passed no problem. I even left it in 93 tune. Funny thing is the inspector lady stepped on my gas pedal to move the car up a car length or so, and overshot where she wanted to stop. She commented that my gas pedal was very sensitive. Guess she wasn't used to the tune. Lol.

Way back when, they actually used a B5 A4 as the bait car. I think it was right around when there was a massive rash of B5 thefts (2007/2008ish)
