Hey all, I'm planning on upgrading my Audi Concert stereo system(what a POS) and I'm trying to get some ideas on what to do about a sub. I don't like pounding nasty bass, I like it tight clean and crisp. So I'm thinking sealed box, w/ an 8" or 10" sub. Has anyone put a custom fiberglass enclosure on the right side pocket of the trunk? That's where I'd like to put mine as I don't want to give up any space. any ideas or tips/suggestions? BTW, my plan includes, 5.25 components up front, 6.5 coaxials in the rear and a 5-channel amp (JL Maybe?) to round it all out. I will also be keeping the stock concert HU. I may end up having to run a cap although I'd rather not. Anyway, let's see all those custom enclosures!!! Post pics of whatever you got! I'm just brainstorming here.

Thanks!

id personally reccomend an infinity perfect sub. What makes it better than most subs i have heard is the thing accually sounds nice and crisp unlike 90% of the subs on the market

I did a custom fiberglass and 3/4" MDF sub enclosure for my JL Audio 10w7. It tucks in quite nicely in the space on the left side of my trunk. Cubic capacity was perfect, and a little fiberfill tightens up the response. This thing HITS, and is super clean and responsive. The only thing better than this would be two . . .

Dont run a cap, its useless unless you have the charging system to go along with it. Yes I did run a cap, but i figure i was getting a lot of stuff for free so why not. Get a dry cell battery, I was running 2 Odyssey PC1200 wired together and no matter how much i threw at it, it was rock solid.

I built one in the side where the toolbox was, so happy that I spent the time to do that as I still have my whole trunk.

boosted, to get that finish did you have it painted by a body shop?

Ripple, that's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks, I'm going to hopefully tackle this project in a few days. It's going to take me a while to complete it though...

Hope you don't mind if I pm you occasionally to pick your brain! Thanks!

No worries...would be glad to help. It took me awhile, remember picking Saturnines brain quite a bit as we were doing our stereo installs at the same time.

How do the RCAs and remote wire from an aftermarket amplifier tie in to the stock HU. I've got a '99.5 with the Audi Concert unit and am very interested in replacing my components as well as adding a sub.

95% done with my project, I did a fiberglass back in the CD changer pocket of my avant mated to a MDC box to fit through the stock opening.

Looking good bro!!! The only problem I see now is that I don't know where to mount the Phatnoise Phat box. The space on the left seems to be biggger than the space on the right in the sedans.

Bro, there's like 2 other threads that answer your question to the "TEE". you just have to search.

Exactly. Search for Blaupunkt adapter.

I know I have a thread with some details posting details on how I set mine up and ran everything for my setup.
