Engine and tranny question.

Hello fellow Audi friends. I had a question for you guys, can I use an engine that came off an automatic on my manual? I unfortunately snapped my timing belt and rather than fixing the head I rather just replace the engine. Thanks in advance.

you should let someone else chime in and confirm -- but i'm 98% sure its been done plenty [i know the other way around had been done -- swapping auto to manual on the same engine]

6sp Manual or CVT engine will mate to Tiptronic 6 spd
Automatic Tiptronic 6spd will not work in manual 6spd or CVT unless you switch[wrench] the crankshaft. The crankshaft is different because the manual 6spd needs the pilot bearing. The Tiptronic does not have the provision for it to be seated correctly

When you transfer[wrench] the crank over to your new engine you will not need to remove it from your 6spd manual crank
