Searched the forums but didn't find much info. Asked in other sections with little response. I guess most people prefer to keep the OEM rnse. I too prefer the OEM look. But the rnse is jurassic tech compared to whats on the market nowadays.

So I'm considering upgrading to the mk2 hi res rnse, adding the kufatec a2dp bluetooth kit and maybe a backup camera. Or, getting an aftermarket double din headunit. Staying OEM is gonna cost roughly $1500. The mk2 rnse alone costs $1000, plus I'd need a b6/b7 faceplate and DIY the swap. Not sure if it's worth the money and effort. Even if I did sell my old rnse to offset costs.

With little research I've narrowed it down to this 2015 kenwood dnx692 all in one unit. I chose this mainly because its runs garmin and it's the only model with all the features that has a volume knob which is a must. I'm not a fan of units with those tiny, cheap feeling volume buttons.

Has anyone else made the aftermarket switch? Thoughts, impressions, should I stay OEM?

If you're handy enough you can make your own with an andriod tablet or ipad depending on preference. Good installs look nearly OEM and have WAYYYY more features than you'll get out of any of the other options.

I have a AVIC 8000NEX in mine and am happy with the decision. It's got all the bells and whistles but Pioneer released the 8100NEX this year which I wish I had because it utilizes Android Auto. (Technology moves do quick)
