Sup guys my first real post on here so take it easy on me, i just want your honest opinions and experiences. So i'm looking to get a b7 a4 sedan but i'm financing it for a really unbelievable price but i was told if im financing i should go for what i really want so to be honest i love how the b7 Avants look and how it looks on bags and lowering springs just living the Avant life i love it. but at the same time aren't they basically the same car right? b7 sedans look sick lowered and or stanced too right? so point blank is i would be giving up a sweet chance at a cheap b7 for the hopes of finding a good cheap Avant knowing how rare they are. So its there really a big difference? is the driving experience different? which one do you guys prefer? fyi im a college student and this will be my first Audi, former subaru wrx owner. dont tell me Audi's are unreliable and stuff please, ive done a ton of research on this forum and honestly it all comes down to what you want plus i'm a technician in training i know how to use my tools lol Thanks Guys!

You can fit a lawnmower, air compressor and multiple bags of mulch in the avant. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/hxcvw1/20140425_120838_zps3petex6c.jpg
I personally like the Avant better. I fill it with stuff regularly, and I think the wagon balances out the crazy overhang in the front better. That wouldn't keep me from buying a sedan though. Buy what you want

As a recent college grad who is wicked concerned about money/finances, go with the sedan. I was in the same spot as you 3 years ago; I love the avant, but financially, the sedan made sense. I got my sedan for 2/3rds of what they normally go for in my area because the seller was moving to the city and needed to sell ASAP. I haven't looked back.
This is all assuming that the sedan and whatever avant you find are in the same kind of shape. Post up the ad to the sedan and let us comb through it if you want. We'll be happy to provide feedback.
The bottom line is, you can finance a Ferrari if you wanted to; it doesn't mean that it's a smart move. Save your cash and put it towards things like bags, wheels, tune, etc. You will be much happier in the long run, and be much more financially fit for the future. Take it from a guy who has been there. PM me with any questions if you'd like.

Which ever you choose don't sacrifice anything. I found an avant but it was auto regret skipping out on a manual just to get a avant.

Avantüberalles.
I love my b7avant, it took my about a year to find the one I wanted but I plan on keeping her until the motor blows. Don't settle for a sedan, hunt down an avant deal, they are out there you just have to really look and be ready to jump as soon as it pops up.

...with a slushbox [:p]
But you should hold out for the car you want or you will kick yourself down the road.

I've owned both, and personally I'd go with an avant. Better lines, space, practicality, perfect for road trips, definitely worth the extra cash.

The practicality of the Avant's is tough to beat - the obvious downside, like you stated, is that they're harder to find (especially with a manual) and generally command a premium. Craigslist has a gem pop up every now and then - keep your eye there as well.

Yeah, your totally right but i've been searching and i cant find any close to my location also im looking for newer ones so craigslist is out of the question i dont have $10k in cash to straight up and buy one. I dont want to feel like i'm settling but i also like Sedans e.g if i had the money i was buy a B7 RS4 without a second thought, knowing we dont get the Avants in the States i would still be happy. Thanks Again Guys.

Just like they've been saying, make sure you get what you really want. I was so sick of car shopping by the time I found my Ti sedan. But it was totally worth it and was exactly what I wanted. Also expand your search area. I drove from VA to NJ for mine, no regrets. Good luck!

I've personally owned both. I bought a 07 Sedan as my first venture into audis and ended up really loving the car. but when it came time to pick up another B7 I couldn't get over the looks and practicality of the Avant. I have been lucky and both were manuals, one thing I dont think I would sacrifice.
The Sedan looked great and was a lot of fun, but the Avant is a more mature look and way more classy IMO. My wife and I flew out to cali and drove accross the country in it, sleeping in the back comfortably and had one awesome experience. I had a lot of work done to my sedan and it looked pretty good, but the Avant on wheels and a drop looks equally as good if not better.
Only piece of advice I would give is not to settle.. I have seen a lot of people on here regret not waiting for the right B7 and end up trading later on or selling all together.

Would have been more spacious if PO hadnt been so kind to include all the stock parts (most of which were donated to Jrtrainor)
Dont Settle, this could be your car for a very long time if you really fall in love with it!

Everyone here is making the right point: don't settle. Just make sure that you don't break the bank when you do come across that avant. I sound like such an old stick in the mud, worrying about money...
