As the title states, when I turn the blinker on, it stays lit up and doesn't blink. Any ideas on what causes this?

Bad blinker relay? Its located in the same assembly as the hazard button.

You probably are low on blinker fluid.

Just kidding. Either bad relay or bad bulb.

Well played sir. But will the bad bulb just keeping it on? I thought most cars blink faster.

Its probably da relay. The fact that the bulb comes on rules it out.

It's actually a quite common failure. You'll need to purchase a new hazard switch. The flasher relay is actually in the switch. The pads on the relay fuse together and thus the light is just on and won't flash. The relay is soldered to the board and is an unconventional size, so sourcing just the relay is difficult. Some have swapped the turn signal relay for the hazard relay, which is on the same board, but gets used much less frequently. I would just buy yourself a new switch and move on.

I would recommend you just spend the 35 bucks and be done with it. My brother has tried the clean-it-up method, and he has had the stupid thing apart twice now, and it works again for a week or 2 then quits again. Being it's a safety thing, I would recommend you just put a new one in. Especially if you are having other people drive the car. A non-flashing turn signal can very easily cause a deadly accident.

Same deal here, after I fixed mine the second time I said screw it and bought a new one. Aftermarket flasher modules seem to be designed for a c5 though, so the button sticks out more and is at a different angle. They also use a more common relay type so it should be easier to fix if it goes bad again, which it will because because they use crappy Chinese relays. I was able to swap my original button over with a bit of soldering. I've found that tapping the button or the trim around it with your finger makes it flash a few times so you can do that in the meantime.

You're secretly a BMW driver. Thank me later.
