View Full Version : RNS-E, 6 Disc Changer. Wanting AUX

So, I know this has been talked about, but after looking for a little bit I am confused.

I just got my 07 with the RNS-E Nav and the 6 disc changer. Do I need to do coding to get the cd changer to work now, or do you think it should already be working with the nav unit?

Also, I want to add the AUX option. I have seen a few DIY, but none that show incorporating the 6 disc changer.
Now I know I have to go in with vag-com and code it to accept the AUX, but could I not just plug the aux into the back of the 6 disc somehow? I don't think I will use the 6 disc much, but I don't want to screw anything up.

I also have SW 0260, is this the newest or is there newer versions? I just download the 2014 maps, will that update the software too?

Thanks

You will need to recode.

You could do something like this, but i'd skip the airplay. I ended up just unplugging the unit so if you follow that guide and just install a usb bluetooth dongle to the aux it works perfect, I'm loving it

If I follow what?
I re-coded where is now shows cd, mp3 and now aux. Just need the proper hardware I guess

The rnse uses a separate connector for the AUX and has nothing to do with the cd changer. Just search for adding AUX to rnse.

my bad, forgot to link the post i made about it

Like I said, you could skip the airplay stuff and just add an a bluetooth usb module and plug the aux into that, works great for me to have both.

That looks cool, but seems to be a lot of work lol
I'll look into it though.

What about this though? looks easy and clean

I don't need it to be long, I would put it up by the esp button. Is this just plug and play?

Yup, as long as your coded for it that would be the simplest way. personally don't like the aux up front but thats a personal choice.

If I want to put it under the arm rest, couldn't I just make the wires longer?
Did you do this already?

This might be my best bet and just leave the cord in the glove box.
This should just plug in the back and work, right?

Yeah, or you could still use that, and take something like this

and mount it anywhere you wanted.

How would I use that if I didn't use the thing I posted?

Btw I bought and installed this one on my Euro Rns-e and I had to ad 30cm of wire so that I could reach under my arm rest.

You could install it in your glove box.

Couldn't I just get this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/RNS-E-AUX-in-3-5mm-Audio-Input-cable-for-Audi-Navigation-Plus-A3-A4-A6-TT-/251971444524?hash=item3aaaab1f2c&vxp=mtr
and just add a extender to it? http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Female-Socket-Auxiliary-Extension/dp/B007ZHM81K

My RNS-E phone module and bluetooth stopped working last week. Tried pulling fuses but they did not come back. Will the aux connector and bluetooth dongle allow my phone to connect and make/receive calls as well as stream music?
