Just recently saw garrett has a GTX 29 turbo. Wondering if anyone has bought/installed one of these. Interested in possible using this on my new engine. Interested if I could buy or use my .72 hotside housing on it (likely would require some machine work) and seeing how much more gains I could get out of the new engine.
Any info would be good. I'm wondering how quick these would spool up, how much boost would be ideal. I'm still looking at them right now but please provide input.

No worries I can refer you to a company that can fabricate some maps for you.......http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/laughing/hysterical-laughter-smiley-emoticon.gif (http://www.sherv.net/)

This is speculation only but I assume it will perform somewhere in between the GTX2867 and the GTX3071 but closer to the GTX28 side of things. [:D]
Will be interesting to see the maps once published and see how early it can start to spool up.

It is a GTX3067R with a smaller exhaust wheel.
gtx29 is almost as good as an EFR ;)

So not sure if there's maps for the HTA2868, but would my assumption be along those lines? But capable of a bit higher boost? I'm gonna continue fishing for info. Some sort of maps would be nice. Or some sort of discount to be the one that will provide real world data. I guess it will have to be added to my wish list. And see what it can do

Forced performance does not post their compressor maps anywhere, which is smart, and very unlike frankenturbo lol.
its a miniscule upgrade. if you are tired of your gtx2867, upgrade to a 60lb turbo. a gtx3076 or an efr 7163.
Otherwise you are spending $1400 for a 20 hp gain.

I've got a GTX 2863 and a gt2871 currently as options. If I were to get the 2967 wouldn't I be looking at more like 50hp gain?? If maintaining similar spool characteristics I think it would be nice. Perhaps your right though mec maybe I should just keep what I have and just enjoy it for what it is.

the 63 is a great little turbo, you would see a slightly bigger gain if you are coming from that turbo, but still that is about a 43lb/min turbo, if you are going to upgrade you should get something slightly bigger to justify your money.

I agree 100% mec, kinda why i started asking about the GTX29 turbo. They do have a few other options available i think a 2967, 2976, 2971. So as your saying "slightly bigger to justify your money" would it be any better if i just went with the 2867 and use my .72 hot side on that turbo? Would essentially give me longer boost curve and likely keep me still hitting max boost pre 4000rpm (this is just a guess)
I think i understand why your meaning to get into a 3071 or something in that range? Hta like firefox has in his car? The fully built 2.0t with oversized valves will likely move lots of air. Am i constricting things if i stick to the 2863? Or will the little guy essentially run a bit nicer with the improved flow? Wud i able to lower my max boost RPM?
Thanx for the input keep it coming
