Just curious- when my wife used to drive my B7 (prior to me using it now as my daily commuter car), she only put about 3,000 miles a year on the car, so the service light never came on until like a year or so. Now, however, I am putting about 3k miles every 3 months on the car, and the service light comes on pretty much at this interval now. Isn't the service interval supposed to be like 10k between oil changes though?
On another note, I'm getting an APR Stage 1 tune on Tuesday. I have an 08 B7. Do I need to replace my DV or PVC in anticipation of this, or am I ok to just to leave as is? Finally, does anyone know what the car will do 0-60 after stage 1 and nothing else? Thx

that service reminder is set manually-probably the shop you get maintenance done at.
they probably did that because you should change the oil at least one a year as the oil ages as it sits in the pan doing nothing.
i change it every 5k miles.

The OCI can be changed via Vagcom. I believe it is set to 10k miles from Audi. I have mine set to 7.5k.
I got tired of doing so many oil changes so now I just do them every 20k miles. Seems to have helped my cam follower reliability too.

I do mine every 8k miles. I add a quart every 2k miles, so I've got plenty of fresh oil running through, even at my OCI. I could probably do it every 10k.

there was a fifth gear episode where they did an oil change on a GTI. they did a 1/4 mile run with the old oil and the new oil and the difference was 0.5 seconds. i was shocked. anyways, i'd think fresh oil will protect the engine far better than older oil. some say in another forum (bob is the oil guy) that synthetic oil performance peaks with some milage then declines. i doubt it. it's just a matter of breaking down those longer hydrocarbon molecules. the more broken down they get the worse off the oil performs.
