Will these fit a B8.5 as well? Also, is there a splitter for the OBDII connection point so I can still run a wireless OBD dongle for datalogging (at the track)?

You can't do a splitter unfortunately, at least for VCDS/P3 running simultaneously. It might be possible to run a splitter with a wireless dongle/P3, maybe as long as you don't try to query for DTC's with the P3.
For the manufacturer, how hard is it to get a customized set of displayed values? E.g. could we look through the PID's ourself and request certain measurements? I find my P3 is kind of useless except for boost, coolant temps and shift blinking (since getting the APR DSG tune with manual mode enabled).

Thanks for your thoughts and too bad it doesn't work with the VCDS, maybe someone can chime in on the OBD dongle piece. I do log rpm's and coolant temp through my OBD dongle and Harry's Laptimer so perhaps that would create an issue if both were accessing the same PID's, not sure.

Ive heard mixed things on doing the splitter, some have said certain combinations work where others do not. No rhyme or reason to it that I specifically know of so its just kind of hit or miss.

Just the gauge will work work for DIY install but not the pre-assembled unit as the vent trim is different as well as the electrical plug.
*Edit: they are now available for the B8.5 A5/S5/RS5 but not A4/S4 as the vent is evidently only available with the whole panel.

Get your self some small needle nose pliers and some scotch tape. Take your time and don't let the fins fall out.

Yea, guess it's relative to expectations. I'd love to see oil temp (so I don't have to devote DIS to this), oil pressure, intake air temps post blower, timing pull from knock. They are offering a "track pack" upgrade, which includes AFR, which would be nice, then some other performance settings like 60-130 etc, but I'd rather get benchmark data from the 1/4 mile.
Currently (off the top of my head), it is:
boost - useful with a tap, but not something I look at often;
coolant temps - good, usually what I leave it in this mode while on track (already have granular info with instrument cluster needle);
ignition timing angle - pretty useless info, since you need to cross reference with RPM/Pedal Input to get meaningful information;
pedal input position - useless;
ambient air temp - doesn't work on my car, just says 0.
velocity - useless by itself, suppose this PID must be grabbed to get 0-60;
0-60 - never used this;
batt voltage - nice to know alternator is working and gives you an idea of battery health, although not sure how people read this;
exhaust gas temp - not sure how this is useful, anyone have tips on how to read this?
RPMs - useless by itself but nice for blinking near redline.
Am I forgetting something?
It would be cool to run an analog temp probe in the blower intercooler circuit to see what the temps are there.

Exhaust Gas Temp is helpful to know how the motor is running, lean or rich. Very high gas temps can indicate a lean running motor, this can also kill the cats.

Yes it will if you hook up the dimmer wire(obviously cant pull that from the obd2 port)
Currently the track pack is a free upgrade!

It does require a boost tap if you want to read actual boost vs what the p3 picks up on obd...which has been said too be "requested boost".

The EGT display should be pretty useful for the A4/5 guys who are running stage 2, as I imagine temps are a good amount higher than stock. I had a-pillar gauges for my Cummins that displayed EGT, boost, and tranny temp, as those were my three big concerns. For short bursts of WOT, 1500 degrees was the max I would want to see for EGT's, whereas 1200 was my max for long pulls under load. Not a clue what temps are considered to be safe on an A/S4 though.

Its not too big of a concern on these. That is all built into the tune, if they get to high the tune accommodates. Also the EGT temps displayed aren't an actually measure value for most applications(could be wrong here), they are modeled based on other readings.

Can you ask P3 about adding either Oil Pressure or Oil Temperature to the signals that work? Also, Intake Air Temperatures would be great instead of pre-supercharger air temperatures.
If there is a way I can look for possible signals, please let me know. I this OBDII reader if it helps http://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-427201-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Diagnostic/dp/B00H9S71LW

Ill mention to them. I could be wrong but Im pretty sure those signals either don't exist or aren't on the can-bus. The oil sensors are typically either just an open/closed, or resistance specific to the ecu/module. Probably not something a 3rd party system would read properly. Your best bet might have to be using the analog sensor function.

I'm sure the oil temp signal is on CAN, because you can configure the center DIS screen to display it. The issue with that is when you fully disable the ESC system, it covers the oil temp reading [:|]
