Hey guys. I'm moving to the east coast and was wondering if anyone has used a reputable shipping company to ship their cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all. The total mileage is 2500 miles. I could drive it but i just feel that's too much wear to put on these cars. Thanks for your help.

Drive your car and enjoy it. It's built for that.

Id look at an enclosed shipping company. The car would have no problem but its a lot of miles to put on the car at once

Just do the math on it. About $1500 in cost to drive it based on mileage rates. If more to ship then drive it. Would be a fun drive across the country.

I drove from Hartford CT to SLC Utah last year, 2,715 miles. The car was an absolute joy to drive across country. I will admit it did feel like i was committing a cardinal sin when driving through certain portions of the midwest that seemed to only drive Chevy or Ford.
It's a mass produced Audi, its not a Ferrari. Drive it in my opinion or risk damage in shipping and dealing with a 3rd party shipping insurer for damages.

Do not sign up for a website soliciting shipping quotes! i did this two years ago and still get junk mail from auto transporters daily!

I drove to Yellowstone National Forest from Dallas TX, when my car had just 2700 miles on it. It was one of the best drives I've ever had.

My mother has shipped her car to/from NJ/FL a few times and think it ran about $1.5k each way. Now she rides the Amtrak from FL to DC with her car if she is going to be "up north" for an extended stay.
I would probably just get the car checked out, bring some extra coolant/oil, and do the road trip if I were in your shoes.
Edit to Add: I know you aren't driving from FL to NJ, but it might give you an idea of the shipping cost.

Of course but some still slip through the cracks - If I were shipping a car I would probably use uship.com and get a quote from a reputable place that specializes in enclosed transport backed up by testimonials and reviews.

We used to ship cars often.... we no longer arrange shipping directly unless its a single car trailer, 1 driver, no depot stops.
Cars get damaged in shipping ALL THE TIME. 2500 miles is a drop in the bucket form a ware and tear prospective.... drive it and have a trip you will remember for ever.
Unfortunately I can not recommend DAS as the last poster did.

yeah. thats almost the exact quote im getting. its just a matter of factoring everything else. that goes into the drive as well. like booking hotels and what not.

No need to book hotels... We drove from NYC to MSP a couple times and found it best to search for a Red Roof Inn or Super 8 when we needed to stop for the day. Both are dog friendly and cheap for a night ($50 IIRC). They are not the greatest hotels, but get the job done when you need a few hours of sleep.
By not booking hotels we had much more flexibility to drive more/ less if we wanted to.

It's like you guys don't enjoy cars.
My god's man's!! LOL
Cars are meant to be driven and NOTHING is more fun than a long distance ROAD TRIP!!!!!! The scenery, the places to stop along the way, I love them. I look for any excuse to hit the road.
When we moved out here to CO from CA (a mere 1200 miles) we drove out to inspect our house before finalizing the offer. After buying it and moving we drove our cars at the time out as well (except the 944, we flew back and drove a Uhaul with the Porsche on a transport trailer behind).
I mean, if you drive a 4 color 86 Tercel belching black smoke, yeah, I might see some concern for a 2500 mile trip........but come on, if you think the S4 will fall apart after 2500 miles how do you ever take it out of the garage! [:D]
The only excuse against it is time, but for $1000-1500 shipping cost PLUS the issues of damage, etc.......well, I can make time appear to save $1500 LOL
what company did you use? and was the estimated amount of time they toook to ship it? thank you
forgot the company to be honest. time ranges between 5 to 7 days

Drive. The. Car. You will never forget a great cross country road trip. Our cars eat up highway miles very comfortably and I was very surprised at the great mpg - especially at high speeds.

I used Intercity Lines. Enclosed carrier, was about $1 a mile ($1700 for MD to CO). They took great care of the car. I drove my wife's Outback with dog while my car was shipped.

do you really need an enclosed trailer? open trailer with the s4 sitting on the top rack will still keep it in good shape. of course you'll need to give her a bath regardless, but at least you won't have another car's fluids all over your paint.

price difference is about 500 for a closed container. I am so crazy about my car getting dirty or anything that ill probably just cough up the extra cash. plus for all the estoril blue owners out there they know how hard this paint is to maintain. and dont get me started with the clearcoat.
