Hey I was wondering if anyone has removed oem audi rings from the trunk I got a black cheap ass one I was thinking of putting on but I don't know how the oem one comes off and if it is even possible to get it back on once it's off. I'm assuming it's something similar to 3m adhesive tape? I would dip the oem rings but I'm worried about how precise I need to cover the car to prevent over spray
Looking to see if anyone has done it

Rings come off with a hair drier, fishing line and goo-be-gone. Heat the rings using the hair drying (softens the adhesive) use the fishing line to separate the rings from the trunk and then use the goo-be-gone to clean off any residue from the paint.

Use the green autobody masking tape to outline the rings as a template, make it easier to put back on centered and straight. Make sure you remove wax, paint sealants from the area. You want it squeaky clean to stay on for the long haul.

It would be easier to buy new rings from the dealership (or similar) with adhesive on it and sticking that back on vs using the old one which would be a PITA to get 2-sided tape back on it perfectly not to mention all of the old tape off etc...

just dip them, use a big plastic tarp over the rear of the vehicle if you're worried, if there isn't wind, you shouldn't have a problem though, dip does not spray like normal spray paint (not misty as fuck)
ie.

not the back, but give you an idea
